So we wanna be final four fodder

I doubt the players are as cowardly as some of our fans.

Yeah I don’t get the self-loathing fan. If we stack up another top 10 recruiting class next year that should be more than enough talent to get into the CFP. We probably aren’t good enough to beat the two semi-pro teams yet, but do “fans” really prefer us not getting in?

Exactly. Unbelievable. We've also had fans profess that they'd prefer that PSU get completely blown out rather than compete and lose a close game. Huh?

Right now it's Alabama/Clemson...large gap...Georgia...even larger gap....everyone else. We're one of the few programs that have the potential to close the gap and actually be relevant. The future's still bright but, obviously, there's a lot of work to do.

Franklin has done extraordinarily well, and the future looks bright. But in the big picture ... Alabama has basically ruined college football. I don't know what the solution is, but it's just become a foregone conclusion every year. It's boring. I'm tired of it.

Other teams need to get better. That's the solution. Clemson and Georgia have proven they can play with them. Others need to step up.

ESPN asks, "why would you be tired of excellence?" lmao

A larger playoff solves so many problems. I understand why people are tired of watching Bama dominate but is it really any worse than UConn dominating Women's basketball or Penn State dominating wrestling or Golden State/Cleveland running the NBA until LeBron left? The difference is with a 4 team playoff few teams ever get a shot. Of course Bama is going to win a ton of titles when they only have to win 2 post season games to earn it.

The other difference is how arbitrary CFB is compared to every sport this side of figure skating, those teams won those titles on the court. Not saying Bama doesn't deserve it (this years team is clearly #1) but when they win at the clip they do plus get the benefit of the doubt anytime there is "doubt" it wears on people. It's less frustrating when you don't have "judges". When you have espn saying the sec championship game is meaningless and bama is in regardless then what's the point? They were a shoe in last year when they didn't even win their division. Combine that with Clemson taking advantage of being in a really weak conference (good for them for taking advantage, not gonna lie I'm a little jealous) and it gets old. If Michigan and Clemson switched places the last 5 years, Harbaugh in all likelihood has multiple conference titles (and multiple blowout playoff defeats) and Clemson has significantly fewer.

It may also be more frustrating for fans of programs just on the precipice of the playoff. Maybe Rutgers or Vanderbilt fans don't mind it cuz its never going to be them anyway?

There's always going to be judges though. That happens with every NCAA sport. There's a committee that seeds teams. The problem is there's only 4 and Alabama/Clemson have two of those spots locked up every year unless they lose twice. Even if they lose twice they could still get in. I understand what you're saying about Bama and the SEC title game but, honestly, they were a top 4 team win or lose that game. Too bad they didn't lose because then we probably would have gotten Clemson-Bama in the first round although that probably sets up another Bama-Georgia final.

Ask NASCAR what has happened to their HUGE fan base when they kept screwing their championship shiz. Keep changing it, and people become disinterested. Especially the bookies.

There are only so many top players. It really is a zero sum game. Until Alabama isn’t getting whoever they want it’s pretty much impossible to close the gap

Truth. So long as they have Saban coaching, and they continue to get 5-6 high 5-star guys a year, or whatever numbers it is, then nobody is going to beat them other than a fluke win every now and then. Saban's like Paterno in that if he has a long enough time to prepare, he's going to eat your lunch. Not only because he has more good players, but also because he knows what the hell he is doing.

Kirby has a lot of good players, too, but until he shows that he can use them as well as Saban does, Georgia is going to be an also-ran like everybody else.

Well we may have “a run” to the final four but we ain’t beating Bama or Clemson in the forseable future. That’s my point. You need layers of talent at EVERY position. No gaps. Not one position where you are just ok. No walk on that proved himself on the field because that only means that you are thin at that position. Then there is the PED piece that we don’t do. Good luck

Eh, the PED stuff is probably no different anywhere. It's just that when you have the athletes that Bama has, the PED's work better.

They could have shot me up with gallons of steroids and HGH when I was younger, and I still wouldn't have looked like those Bama guys look. The best 5-star guys are almost a different species.
