Some random/possible inside information

We were 3rd in scoring offense in the B1G, 6th in total offense. I think we started 8 players with sophomore or frosh eligibility and will probably return 9 of 11 starters next year. I think there is plenty of room for improvement but we were not “bad” on offense.

I've heard Lorig, a 1st year assistant coach, doesn't "get along" with anyone on the staff. If that doesn't prove we have a bad offense, I don't know what does.....blah, blah, blah.... LMAO

Who cares whether Lorig gets along with the other assistants? Unless it’s a situation of open warfare/insubordination, if the job is getting done, the buddy-buddy stuff is unimportant.

I think our assistants have a pretty sweet deal all things considered. Maybe Lorig isn’t the only problem.

It matters from Lorig's side of the fence. From Franklin's side I agree with you. James Franklin is not going to "fire" Lorig because he "does not play well with others", and is not bestest buddies with other coaches, or that his wife does not get along with Fumi. No, this is big boy D1 football and as long as his unit is producing and he is doing his job, Franklin would not let him go for any of those reasons.

But from Lorig's side of the fence, he could simply leave for another coaching job if those things were true. These guys spend a ton of time together. Between practices, film sessions, coaching meetings, recruiting trips, road game travel ... the coaches and the coaches families spend a ton of time with each other. If Lorig and/or his wife feels isolated or simply does not like some of the others, then from thier side the simplest solution would be to take another job.

Thanks for the update Gladys Kravitz.... Gossip has it that...blah, blah, blah. God Lord most of you drama queens are bigger Soap Opera fans than football fans.

Mrs. Kravitz. That's a blast from the past. I think I liked the first one better.

The other factor is we were playing very good defenses. In Total defense, OSU was #1, Michigan #8, Pitt #11, Iowa #12, Minnesota #15, Michigan State #18. So six games against Top 20 defenses.

Clemson, with their GREAT OFFENSE, played ONE (1) team in the Top 50 in total defense this year. Texas A&M at #32.

I think the issues on offense were due more to a green QB than anything. Yes, the receivers still dropped passes, but overall, I didn't think Rahne was bad this season. Like I said, Clifford made more than a few bad reads and throws otherwise we wouldn't even be discussing this. The cohesion will come soon enough...

To summarize the Rahne Boys over the last two years:

"The offense was crappy, so you can't hold the OC accountable for it not being better"

th

I said I believe it was "due more" to having a green QB. I never said that he should get zero blame, but having a new QB can make you look both good and bad as an OC. In a perfect world, Clifford would make every throw and the WR's would catch every throw.

I just don't understand why people would place 100% of the blame on an OC.... It's not like he is dressed in the field and taking snaps...

Its not nice to confuse Penn State loyal "but" fans with facts.

Who ever said such a stupid thing as that?

Exactly. It's crazy folks would think that. Sometimes the execution or lack thereof, makes an OC seem worse than they actually are.

But seriously, the way some of these people post, you'd think he was to blame for every negative aspect of the offense.

I’ve seen him blamed for the number of snaps at various positions. I think some people believe he determines every offensive position rotation and the execution at every position
