I hear ya. I just think if it gains an advantage (I believe it did both times) they have to call it.
I also think headgear for matches should be optional. Protect them during practice.

It was a pretty egregious head gear pull, IIRC.

A headgear pull is a headgear pull. It sucks, but if it happens you call it. Sorensen beat Deakin fair and square. I like Sorensen. He is the unlucky recipient of being a guy who is at a weight where there is a ridiculous stud his entire career. If not for Zain he's likely a multiple time national champ.

With that being said, Zain is going to punish him again this weekend. Sucks to be him.

I think Sorensen has a shot of keeping this to 6 or less. He obviously has been the closest thing to competition Zain has had in a few seasons, and he is coached by a top 5 coach so his room for improvement is there. Zain isn't afraid to be scored on, and BS is good enough to make ZR work for his points.

Did Sorenson have different tactics during the OT match, or just emply them better.
IIRC he got out from bottom quickly somehow ?

Zain deathly ill lead to the OT....and multiple takedowns etc

I have lots of respect for all your studs they simply come to wrestle and most of them have been successful at their time wrestling.
Sorenson is one heck of a outstanding wrestler. If no injury or illness happens will be a 4 time AA...They don't come along every day..He lacks the speed of Zain and the mat wrestling..My guess will be a major to tech fall.

Sorenson is a great wrestler and if not for Zain might be winning the NC himself. Iowa has a great tradition but not longer dominates. You will have a great team for the foreseeable future and will always be in the championship hunt. Best wishes.

I respect your opinion, but strongly disagree. Either the rules apply equally throughout all parts of the match, or they don't apply at all.

Refs do that because they don't want to decide the outcome. Not enforcing the rules ** is ** deciding the outcome.

To be intellectually consistent: if calls are less important early in matches, then why not scoring as well? Why not have T2, NF4 in the first and T5, NF10 in the third?
