Sounds like Narduzzi isn't thrilled with this whole "recruiting" thing.

Maybe it's not for you, Pat?

“Those are the things that concern me: the calendar changes,” Narduzzi said. “I don’t mind an early signing period; I don’t want the calendar to change. But it’s changing. And it’s changing for the worse, and I’m afraid it’s going to drive more coaches to say, you know what? This recruiting’s for the birds. I’m headed to the league. I’m going to go to the NFL, too, where I don’t have to recruit; I can just draft them. Draft day is nice. It’s three days and it’s over with.”

He's pretty butt hurt right now. Evidently he thought he had a top 20 QB in the bag but the kid is probably going to Kentucky now so Pat had to settle for Plan B, C, or D. Don't know the particulars, but my neighbor, who is a Pitter through and through, was crying the blues last night about #PinnochioPat losing his mojo on the trail and with his vaunted defense. Things not so good for the Pitters right now.

In fairness to Il Douchey, only a masochist would like recruiting.

Wouldn't that first require someone in the NFL that would want to employ Nardouchenozzle?

Apparently, recruits aren't too thrilled with the Douche either...

That's a really stupid comment for him to be making publicly. Geez, Pitt is a coaching carousel as it is, that's one of the major reasons it's hard to recruit, because anybody with the slightest bit of success there is going to be climbing the ladder -- and Narducci implies that will be the case with HIM. I know it's lying but he should be saying the opposite -- that Pitt is a huge magnet for kids and he LOVES recruiting and he's never seen so many kids interested in a school!

When you're up against it and you suddenly realize it...that is the type of comment you make.

He ACTUALLY has to recruit football players for Pitt? I AM STUNNED!!!!!

I thought with their remarkable history and their top notch bus transportation to their almost-always-full rent-a-stadium all he had to do was keep turning down the hundreds of high school graduates that annually were pleading to play for him until he was down to the allotted 25 on National LOI Day. That's not the case?????

STUNNED.....I AM STUNNED!!!!!

A second rate coach will only get second rate players! Paul Chryst did a great job bringing in the players who were drafted this year. If only the one knows simply as "Duzz" could have dont something better than a 5 loss season with the talent he inherited.

Great stats. This is why PSU fans should stop obsessing on Pitt on this board. Pitt-PSU hasn't been a rivalry for 35 years now. The programs operate in different solar systems.

Pitt is no threat (and no, I'm not saying they can't win in any given year) but Pitt is no threat to eclipse the PSU program and never will be.

So we shouldn't worry about them. In fact we can wish them well in their endeavors. There is really no reason to hate on Pitt any more. It's like hating Rutgers or Temple -- kind of wasted breath. And hopefully Maryland will be in the same category pretty soon as they spend the next 25 years atoning for the no-handshake stunt.

PSU has resumed its place as Beast of the East and all is right with the world.

Hopefully our players will crush Pitt this year, knock them hard but then offer a hand to help them up. And then handshakes and respectful words after the game. That is what I hope will be future for PSU and Pitt: lopsided on the field, respectful off the field.

Wow how bad is Pitt's recruiting? So far just two 2star recruits. In fact, the Douchebag was feeling pressure because of his failure to land more than one recruit so far that he accepted the commitment of this Low rated QB JUST TO GET SOMETHING. This is bad but when they lose Raines and possibly Zubovic the shit will hit the fan. I'll bet he's praying that Dantonio retires or is fired so that he can escape back to MSU.

Looks like they have the lowest ranked recruiting class of any Power 5 conference team.

MSU isn't hiring him. Pitt was going to be an internship of sorts, like being an apprentice. He is going to get a failing grade, though, because of his inability to recruit. Some places recruit themselves, but recruiting at Pitt requires a salesman, and he is anything but that. He would have been better off interning at a place where recruiting isn't so hard. Even Maryland would have been better. Now that they know he can't close, they will look elsewhere for their successor.

He's also going to lose his label as being a defensive genius. He isn't going the the NFL, unless he is a position coach, at best.

It's likely he'll have to become a coordinator somewhere in a middle P5 school, and hope that he can move back up. He should never have left his protected position at MSU.

Narduzzi reminds me of the high school guy who wants a nice date for the prom. He asks girl after girl and gets turned down every time. After a while he tells everyone, "I hate the prom. I'm not going. The prom sucks." Narduzzi is that guy.

let's hope he stays at Pitt forever. He is easy to recruit against and I fear they may offer the job to JoMo if they get rid of pat.

I'm sure recruiting is no fun, and I would hate it, but Narduzzi is no spring chicken. For him to decide now that he hates recruiting just smacks of being a sore loser. And make no mistake: he's losing.

JoMo isn't stupid. Recruiting there won't be any easier for him. He'll always be swimming uphill looking for elite offensive talent, which doesn't grow on trees in the WPIAL. His offense won't look like much with mediocre graduate transfers playing QB.
