Spencer lee video

Somebody build a chocolate milk pipeline from Hershey to West Halls.

Spencer's style fits Cael and PSU like a glove. Reminds me a lot of the guys I grew up with in regards to preferring the "Summer Season" over the Winter Season - his multiple statements about "just put somebody in front of me and I'll score......I'm looking to Tech or Pin everyone I face....all's I want to do is score until the match is over and I win (e.g., "chain wrestle").....etc... This is going to be nuts with Lee, Hall, Nolf, Nichal, etc.....

He was very sure not to show his hand...mentioned PSU-OK.ST but also being in attendance at the November match in Iowa. Mentioned Nolf, but also Kemerer. Smart kid but I think one could surmise that it's a two horse race.

He also mentioned former HS teammates Maruca and Shields (now at Arizona State) and Devin (Brown, now at West Virginia).

But he gushed over Nolf.

Not that any of this means anything. Sometimes a kid just talks about his friends.

True...but if I had to guess I'd go PSU. I just think his relationship with Nolf and the very close proximity to PSU. Compound that with wrestling for/under Cael and the type of wrestling he promotes...it's a match. Lee at 125 & Suriano bumps to 33....I'm hoping

If he comes, is he 25, and Suriano 33, or vice versa?
I think Nick comes in and wrestles 125 next year and then possibly redshirts a year and grows into 133 (maybe a similar plan to what Zain did). Some may know better than I how much he was cutting to make 126 this year. Spencer will likely be a fairly natural 125 pounder with not a whole lot of weight to cut even in two years.

This plan would allow Cortez to slot in at 133 next year and possibly the following year depending on how difficult the cut is for him. He could then move to 141 as a senior to allow for Lee and Suriano to lead off the lineup.

Him being so close to PSU gives me pause but I think that his love of freestyle could lead him to Brands.

Yea, cuz Sorenson, Burak and company in the Consi and Championship finals really looked like great "freestylers" in the manner Spencer described??? Okee-dokee, if you say so..... Too funny that Iowa's and Brand's wrestlers exemplified the style Spencer described in this interview during the B1G Tournament this past weekend, not Cael's and PSU's wrestlers??? Again, if you say so Mr. Iowa Wrestling....

Iowa's freestyle/folkstyle success at the lower weights is undeniable. Shouldn't be discounted as a factor by any means.

Maybe not FART, but McD, Ramos, Gilman, Clark, and Dennis makes for some pretty good freestyle guys. Plus Terry's creds as a freestyle coach are impeccable having coached Cejudo to a Gold. 3/5 guys I mentioned made a World Team with Dennis hot on Ramos's trail.

I made no mention of PSU except in relation to location. Do you really need to be such a mouth breather all the time?

Two outstanding programs with great coaching and tradition, plenty of top wrestlers to train with

From Murraysville PA (Franklin Regional HS town) to Iowa City -- 681 miles 10.5 hours
From Murraysville to State College -- 119 miles; 2.5 hours

Seems like a decisive factor to me, but I have no inside info

Yea, he should probably add Hefferan to the list, he looks like he is really coaching 'em up out there in that active, aggressive "freestyle" b1g shiz-hole mode, not gaming the officials and the rulebook and blatantly abusing the fundamental rules of wrestling in the name of a "victory" (e.g., ends justify the means, the rulebook be damned.....). Quite amusing that the b1g shiz-hole promotes that crap bull$hit out of both the wrestler and coach as "outstanding wrestling" via their "Outstanding Wrestler Award" of the b1g shiz-hole tournament - pretty much says everything you need to know about where the truly jealous, petty and spite-ridden "mouth-breathers" really reside and that would be the land of the @ssholes otherwise known as the "traditional b1g shiz-hole".....the upper-midewest......etc....

Could someone translate this for me please? I don't speak FART. Thanks in advance.

Royboy -- 10 years or so ago before route 22 was widened it was a little over 3 hours between Murrysville and PSU. Now it is an easy 2 hour drive.

IIMO, Spencer is still undecided between PSU and Iowa. At the same time, I think his parents would like to see him in state college. They see him being successful and achieving his goals at both schools. It's just a whole lot easier on everyone being that close to home.

One completely reasonable comment from an Iowa fan and some people's eyes bulge out of there heads, smh.

Basically the same thing that happens over there. If you are going to cross-populate boards, you basically have to slough off the fanatics and concentrate on the dialogue with reasonable fans who know the sport.

When is the last time Iowa had a world medalist in freestyle? Metcalf couldn't get the weight qualified this weekend, as NLWC member Franklin Gomez beat him. For the past several years the former Hawkeye has choked on the world stage.

He is very close with Nico as well. That is just one reason Nico is staying around 4 more years.

Yea and our Franklin Gomaz who trains at the NLWC just beat Metcalf last week.

Not to mention Franklin is a world silver medalist. There is alot more guys with world and Olympic hardware at NLWC either training or coaching than at the Hawkeye club - Varner, Cael, the Japanese Olympic champ. The last time I remember a Hawkeye club member bringing home hardware was Zadick and that has been a while ago. Alot of them have.been laying turds when the big tournaments come around and the lights come on. One could argue Nebraska and Ohio state regional train centers are producing alot more hardware than the Hawkeye club.

Very true...but then Spencer is not a mid weight or heavy guy. He is a light weight. Also, all due respect to the NLWC but Hawkeyes dominate the lighter weights. Ramos and Metcalf have not made hay internationally but have consistently beat the best this country has to offer. Ramos, after being out of freestyle for a few years. Daniel Dennis just won the U.S Open.

Please tell me you typed that last part with Jeff Spicoli in mind.

all fair points Chief as Brands lightweight production speaks for itself, My hope is Lee is thinking that he will be able to reach his goals anywhere and the lure of location and maybe even more importantly the makings of a ALL TIME TEAM to rival even the best Gable teams. hopefully will be to much to pass up

2017-2018
125- LEE
133- Suriano
141- Cortez
149- Zain
157-Joseph/Manville/Nolf
165- Nolf/Joseph
174- Hall
184-Nickal/Cutch/Rasheed
197- Nickal/Cutch/Rasheed
HWT- Nevils

Barring injuries and Nevils return to his ability now that he can finally train, That team IMHO could be the best ever if all the cards fall in the right places. The Idea of a team like that has to be enticing to any young wrestler who is looking to make a mark in the sport!!

P.S. And the Scary thing----Zain and Cutch are the only seniors in that Lineup!!
