Weird, but my lawn has greened up and is growing. In February. In Pittsburgh. Perennial bulbs also coming up everywhere. What’s the word in your neck of the woods?
That's what 1/2 of my daily 10 minute commute looks like. Sorry. You’re excluded from this conversation.
That said here in the foothills were about 3 weeks ahead of schedule. For me, a lawn service provider it poses a problem because the people have awaken from their hibernation and want service like NOW. Well my vehicles are equipped for snow right now and change over takes a couple days. Snow can come at any time so this kinda puts me in an interesting spot.I’m in Clearfield County, not much green. Just mud. Here in the mountains we are always 2 or three weeks behind in the spring, and two or three weeks ahead come fall.
The other sign by my shop is the emergence of the spring peeper frog. They feed on insects so if they’re out the food source is out. Would like a hard freeze though to kill off some of the ticks around here since I’m sure they’re out now as well.62 in Archbold today. Still pretty brown on the grass. Had 2" of rain last and calling for another 1.5" by Friday morning. Then changing to wet snow. Northwest Ohio at its best.
Smelled skunk this morning and saw a possum dead on road. Two signs my father said are signs spring is upon us.

The weather is too warm, here in the mountains. The warmer nights have brought a mother and her two old cubs roaming my deck last Monday and a week ago friday. The mother is large, she stands about 36" in height on fours and is 5 feet long, probably 250-300 lbs. The cubs are also large, approaching two years old. This is the same mother and cubs around the property last year.Weird, but my lawn has greened up and is growing. In February. In Pittsburgh. Perennial bulbs also coming up everywhere.
