Spring Fever

Strange, 62* in Chicagoland today.

Heading to Southern Cal for a week of golf on Thurs, it’s only forecast to be 59* there on my first day.

One of the cool things about living in Florida is you get Spring fever sporadically throughout Jan-March. I've felt it real hard once already.

Then it just gets hot as hell and you wish you lived in North Dakota.

Phillies spring training is about a block from my office and it's a pain in my ass.

I’m in Clearfield County, not much green. Just mud. But, it is nice enough that I’m outside with a beer in February. Here in the mountains we are always 2 or three weeks behind in the spring, and two or three weeks ahead come fall.

That said here in the foothills were about 3 weeks ahead of schedule. For me, a lawn service provider it poses a problem because the people have awaken from their hibernation and want service like NOW. Well my vehicles are equipped for snow right now and change over takes a couple days. Snow can come at any time so this kinda puts me in an interesting spot.

I'm actually in New York right now. But the wife said she cut the grass back home in Jax. And everything is looking really green. The winter here almost killed everything . So that was good news. Even better news was I got the wife to cut the grass.

62 in Archbold today. Still pretty brown on the grass. Had 2" of rain last week and calling for another 1.5" by Friday morning. Then changing to wet snow. Northwest Ohio at its best.
Smelled skunk this morning and saw a possum dead on road. Two signs my father said are signs spring is upon us.

The other sign by my shop is the emergence of the spring peeper frog. They feed on insects so if they’re out the food source is out. Would like a hard freeze though to kill off some of the ticks around here since I’m sure they’re out now as well.

We're fortunate w/ the Cards and Marlins here. Cards fans are great and there are no Marlins fans.

Ahead of schedule in North Carolina; a little cooler the past 2 days, but a number of temp records have been set for February; looking at the map and nightly weather broadcasts, South Carolina is considerably ahead of NC.

already cut the front lawn once and will do it again this weekend in New Orleans

It's not spring for me until a good rain washes the last salt off the road- I'm thinking 6 weeks

Heading to Phoenix today with the golf clubs. It’s only supposed to be in the 60s there, and 40s at night. Good golfing weather but not yet swimming pool weather.

I'm not sure how much is true but from what I've read its almost impossible to kill ticks with a freeze.

Weird, but my lawn has greened up and is growing. In February. In Pittsburgh. Perennial bulbs also coming up everywhere. What’s the word in your neck of the woods?
The weather is too warm, here in the mountains. The warmer nights have brought a mother and her two old cubs roaming my deck last Monday and a week ago friday. The mother is large, she stands about 36" in height on fours and is 5 feet long, probably 250-300 lbs. The cubs are also large, approaching two years old. This is the same mother and cubs around the property last year.

I know the size of the mother because as she gingerly walked past my bedroom french doors (5' wide) & the deck railing is 42" high. She was a 1x6 below the railing.

Schuylkill county is still gray, dirty, and drab. It's that way in June too !
Grass is still brown but very muddy and soft. Worst part is the cinders that are left behind on the side of the road and next to my yard. Need a good soaking rain this weekend.

Got 18 in yesterday at Sugarloaf here in NEPA. Could have played last week too but had to work. Used to train for Iditarod in February back in day:)

I'[m getting crocuses blooming in Central Ohio. And the tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths are coming up.

Here in Tidewater VA. Front yard is greening and thickening up due to some warmer weather. Yep, the clover, crab grass, chick weed, dandelions and henbit is really starting to take off. Funny thing, my neighbor has a pristine looking fescue lawn he keeps up nicely. For fear of my crap invading his, I give him permission to cut my lawn before any of it goes to seed and spreads to his place. Can’t beat that from a really good guy.

According to Wikipedia, North Dakota's all time high temperature is 121 F... Florida only 109.
North Dakota is way too hot:)
