Starocci got the #1 seed at 182. Pretty good weight, top 4 seeds are Starocci, Nijenhuis, Joll (Bucknell commit), and Luke Stout.

Fellow PSU commit Donovon Ball got the 3 seed at 195, behind Max Shaw and Dorian Crosby. Doable.

Braxton Amos got the 1 seed at 220. PA state finalist Dom DeLuca might make him break a sweat, otherwise hot knife thru butter.

can i use the 3-month-old-had-me-up-3-times-last-night defense?

our guys in the pigtails: starocci wins by fall in 22 seconds, ball wins by fall in 43 seconds
I'll allow it, but I'm in no position to pretend that my permission means anything.

R32: blumer wins by fall in 51 seconds

R16: blumer wins by fall in 5:53, starocci wins by fall in 1:23, ball wins by major 10-2

looks like ball has the toughest test in the quarters, the guy he's facing (cole whitmer) has won his two matches by fall so far

160: 6 seed Blumer gets Mac Stout (Kellan's brother) next. Stout is a FR who just knocked off the 3 seed.

182: 1 Starocci should walk. Gets gets an unseeded guy since the 8 seed lost. Weight has otherwise gone chalk.

195: 3 Ball should be favored. Whitmer last year DNQ for states, got pinned 2x at regionals (including by a an opponent who DNQ), and did not beat a state qualifier all year. If Ball wins, he should make the finals -- 2 seed Crosby already lost. Interestingly, top freshman Kolby Franklin is on Shaw's half of the bracket.

I always tune in to Powerade to follow the Benton guys. They are down this year compared to normal. Gable Strickland (5th State as a freshman) is still alive and maybe a 220 but that's it. Losing Hughes is going to hurt that program for sure.

Watched a few of Ball's matches today and he reminds me a bit of Cutch. A bit stocky for a wrestler but athletic enough to make things work that you wouldn't have guessed would work.

looks great in the blue singlet with a white belt

Cedar Cliff's singlets remind me what you often see in junior and minor league hockey--uniforms and logos nearly identical to existing pro teams, e.g., Kitchener Rangers, Orangeville Flyers that require the pro teams' permission to avoid being considered trademark violations.

semis: blumer loses 5-9, starocci wins 7-3, and ball wins 9-8

starocci-nijenhuis in the finals is probably the match everyone was looking forward to most out of this tournament

182 is a good bracket.

Joll heading to WVU.

Ball loses 7-2 to Shaw, fhough it was 3-2 on feet with 10 sec left.
