Assistants do a lot of recruiting. The Washington State guy, at least for now, is making a latteral move to tOSU. My point was, it wasn't to be the new "10th coach" as Art suggested. PSU's new coach is far down the line, this guy is coming in as Assistant DC. He is coming in to replace someone, eventually. I wonder if LJ is retiring and/or that Schiano is leaving for the NFL (as all of those openings get filled, I see GB fired both their OC and DC).

My point being that a kid may go to tOSU to play for LJ and Schiano and there is a good chance one or both of them are no longer there after LOI day.
I started a new thread because the crux of my point is that we shouldn't pollute the 2018 recruiting thread with posts not related to recruiting news. It's not the end of the world, but current events about who was hired to coach at tOSU have nothing to do with any of the active 2018 recruiting conversations. And... you didn't quote any discussions about why Smith signed with tOSU. Just man up and admit that you posted it to the wrong thread or were too lazy to look for or start a new thread (there was one already). Again, not the end of the world.... but I'm just trying to encourage people to stay on topic.

At 274 pages and close to 11000 posts, a few OT posts are like me peeing in your pool... You wouldn't notice it unless you looked really hard

i honestly don't have a clue what you are talking about.

what do you mean when you are saying someone is "too lazy to start a new thread". WTF does that even mean? How is starting a new thread any more work than adding to a thread?

Second, I posted that tOSU hired Washington State's Defensive Coordinator. And that his title, it is speculated, will be Co-Defensive Coordinator. This doesn't look to me like the "tenth coach" if he has the title of Co-Defensive Coordinator. So, connecting the dots, I was wondering out loud if he was coming in to replace a Schiano or LJ. And that replacing a Schiano or LJ might get potential recruits to lower tOSU as a destination.

When you get some time, please come up with and post the rules as to when someone should post a new thread and when someone should add to a thread already in place.

I do have a tendency to pick at nits, and also tilt at windmills... but my initial point is still true. I was pointing out that your post wasn’t relevant to 2018 recruiting and suggesting that in the future you post comments on coaching hires in threads dedicated towards coaching hires or start your own if none exist. I didn’t single you out, and often make similar posts. For example, when someone posts a 2019 recruiting tidbit in the 2018 thread I post something like “it’s too bad we don’t have a 2019 recruiting thread where that could be posted. Most of the time it results in an ”oops” type response, but there is not really a need for a response, because all I am trying to do is call attention to the fact that the person posted in the wrong thread, assuming that most people are wanting to post in the most appropriate thread.

The comment about too lazy wasn’t a personal attack, just acknowledging that it’s easier to post in whatever thread you are currently in instead of starting your own or finding out whether there was another one already.

It seems that you still believe that coaching hires should fall under the umbrella of recruiting. I certainly don’t follow that logic, but I will never convince you otherwise and it’s certainly not worth trying.
