walk off the court and don't shake hands and then this ugly statement from Harrison

Appears Harrison apologized, so that would do away with the notion that the

video was fake. Now, are we really going to have to have the conversation again where white people whine because "they" can say it and there is not so much fallout?

Are people upset because .

A 19 year old kid dropped an F bomb after an emotional athletic event?
A young African American male used the term n**** to label someone of any race?
Or is it that he wasn't savvy or under control enough to not do both of the above in front of an open mike?

There is a ton of Kentucky/Calipari hate and that has more to do with the reaction than anything. I am willing to bet Kaminski laughed when he heard about this.

The thread has been removed from the forum. There were at least 4 pages of comments. The news is essentially ignoring it. The media has decided. It will not be discussed.

To start, those guys did not want to be on the podium.

They were upset. I understand that. But Harrison's whispered comment reflects total lack of composure, sportsmanship and maturity, among other things. We should expect an apology from Cal and UK's president. There's no redo for saying something like this, so it will advance the stereotypes about UK's student-athletes and Cal's recruiting.

No big deal. I just hope there is no double standard applied when Kaminski uses the same phrase Harrison did after the championship game Monday night. That's all.

Totally different context if Kaminski says that exact same thing. There are all kinds of double standards in race matters but use of that term isn't one of them.

Oh, I think its the N-word, and the fact that the mercenary little punk

had so little control of himself that he could not avoid saying it on national TV. To me that is the more worrisome problem.

Jessie Jackson booking a flight right now to picket this egregious

use of a racist term on national television. Nancy Grace setting up camp on campus. sara ganim waiting for someone to tell her what to do/say.

I give him a pass, he's just a kid. The good news is

that you can have a cake baked with that printed on it, in the state on Indiana today. Baby steps! Looks like the NCAA and press are doing everything they can to strike it from the record.

I am not quite defending him for his "slip" but you could here our own players contragulating one another with that word, even at our white players.

It's thrown around like "bro" on a court, and a kid that was already cracking was supposed to go into normal mode after suffering what is a big and even historic loss? It's not right but it is a word.

Wasn't surprising. These are 19-20 year old kids

And can't expect maturity at this juncture, but it was a stupid comment that he will hopefully learn from. The tolerance in 2015 is far beyond where it was 15-20 years ago and the fact they put these kids in front of microphones on TV as an entire team is almost asking for stupid/immature comments. Especially after a tough loss.

These kids are very young, many not mature enough to be on that stage, regardless of the program/athlete. And by the way, the Kentucky player who got the biggest free pass was Trey Lyles IMO. How he didn't get a technical for smacking the Wisconsin defender in the face late in the game, despite instant replay of it, is beyond me. Even the homer announcers were mystified by the no call. Then he is called for a stupid, ill timed charging call a few minutes later at a crucial time, and he without question lowered his shoulder and rammed the defender off his feet with force to get that call. Seems he didn't learn from the 'no-call' a few minutes earlier, so the kid likely aided in his teams loss in a big way IMO....

I think it was Calipari muttering under his breath

Seriously, the dude tried to mutter it under his breath by creating a megaphone with his hand. Probably something he learned in one of rigorous classes at UK. Imagine if a Wisconsin player had uttered that phrase or anything like it. Would he be able to apologize and it would just be all OK?

The kid was probably just upset about the bonus $ he just lost out on.

The most difficult concept in basketball is a hundred times

easier to teach than class.

Harrison (If He Returns) Will Miss A Couple Meaningless OOC Games Next Nov!

That's it.....a tiny slap on his pinky.

If Kaminsky Had Said That Last Night, He'd Be Suspended Tomorrow Night!

No question in my mind.....none.

Re: Harrison (If He Returns) Will Miss A Couple Meaningless OOC Games Next Nov!

You'll be lucky if he even gets that. Just to put the double standard into perspective- oklahoma fraternity morons kicked out of school and their parents forced to leave their home after mobs descend on it in Dallas for similar language, female college student in the Carolinas (IIRC) in deep trouble and likely to be kicked out of school for similar language last week. Kentucky basketball player got to give one of those pseudo apologies saying it was just said "in jest" and that's likely it. I'll be surprised if he misses the first OOC cupcake game next year (assuming he stays).

It's either a bad word or it isn't. Sorry...

...please provide a list of who can get away with saying it in public. Can a Mexican say it? A Swede? An Eskimo? A Frenchman? I need a scorecard. Someone other than frat boys must be forbidden from saying it.

Huh? I saw the UK players shake hands with the UW players just like after most games and NO ONE in this thread even commented on that. Try staying classy Penn State.

Remember when Franklin used "culture" on national TV after our bowl win. Didn't the AP and others change the word to something else?

I did not think it was that bad. I am sure all the Kentucky players heard about was Decker and Kaminsky and the first question they get in the press conference is Kaminsky. They were just tired of hearing it. If anything, it was half a sign of respect for Harrsion to call him a nigar.

Stay? Before you "stay classy" you have to have "be classy". ********

It's been reported- even on the UK board- that the Harrison brothers and Cauley- Stein (? Sp) ran off the court immediately without shaking hands. Maybe lay off the sarcasm at Cronk who mentioned it since it was being discussed all over the country?

As he should be.

You don't use a sensitive word that deals with someone ethnicity, race, heritage, in a negative way. Clearly the african american, Harrison, wasn't using the ethnicity comment to put down Kaminsky- since Kaminsky white. This isn't brain surgery folks. As grown people, if you really believe that a word that has been used in the past to put down a race/ethnicity and should be used freely by anyone and anywhere, I'm willing to bet you have a challenging life when it comes to getting along with others.

Sorry the world is so complicated, but that word is different

from the mouth of a white person than from others. It is a bad word no matter who says it. But it is pretty clear that you got the frat boy way of looking at things. Look--it does not make much difference who you offend. that is your problem not mine.

My ire is directed squarely at the media...

...they're the ones I want clarification from, because they are the ones who hold the lever on the gallows for offenders. What if you're a white rapper? Is it ok? Half-white soccer player? Half-black golfer?

To me the real issue is the fact that he thought the microphone would not pick up on his comment, talk about ignorant.

I would not let the media decide that for me. They are not going to treat

all situations in which that word is used equally. You seem to want to claim some sort of 'discrimination" or "unequal treatment" on that account, and it is more complex than that.

Any body who uses that word is crossing a line.

My point is that the media pretty much decides everything these days *

If you think harrison is talking about big frank, you seriously don't

understand how young people talk. harrison is saying to his teammate....f that, as in it stinks you have to answer that. Obviously the niqqer is a term of endearment to his friend, not related to big frank.

All in all is a pathetic young men, both black and white, talk this way.......especially those who are super privilaged ( like these clowns)......compared to what the meaning of that word really signifies.
