Steeler Fans: Myron singing "Deck The Broncos they're just Yonkos"

Couldn't stand him to be honest..
He was a guy you either loved or hated. He was uniquely Pittsburgh. I wrote a poem once about his use of the term "girlie" when referring to females and he read it on the air, saying it was "outstanding". I loved the guy after that.

I called in a few times to his radio show once during SB week when Hollywood Henderson was being compared to Jack Ham. Never was made a Cope-a-nut.

It was a feel good show, and as nutty as Myron could be, he was, by everything I've heard, a very bright guy and a fine journalist.

I still used the term "girlie" with my kids

I still recall my poem after all these years.

Some recent callers to my show have gotten rather surly.
They say I am insulting when I call a woman "girlie".
I find it rather puzzling I've created such commotion.
For to me a "girlie" is a term of fondness and devotion.
I suppose I could call them females, but that would sound quite strange.
Besides, when you're as old as me, it's difficult to change.
And so it doesn't matter if her hair is short or curly,
To me a female, young or old, will always be a "girlie".

Ah....well... Myron liked it.
