Valley and Simley have a dual on Friday night.
2 World Champs are going at HWT... Kerkvliet is bumping up.

Good for the sport. I think Steveson will win with the size advantage, but maybe Kerkvliet has an unknown speed factor to get an angle before he's met with the cement hips of Steveson.

I haven't seen Kerkvliet as much as I've seen Steveson, but I'm having a hard time imagining even a smaller wrestler who's more active on his feet than Gable. I think Gable wins easily.

I applaud this and hope it happens more in our sport.

that said Gable should win this comfortably, based on size and I think he has the skill advantage to boot.

No. My team's tri on Saturday got rescheduled to Friday night. Of all the events we attend, and all of the reschedule dates... THIS FREAKING FRIDAY.

It was closer than I was expecting. Gable choosing to cut to neutral at the start of the 3rd up 1-0. Looked like he decided it was time to get a TD and he did off a low double (after what would have been a Bo-esque knee pick at the edge in college edge-rules first), holds on 3-2. Kirkvliet did have a quickness edge getting to legs a few times, but couldn't handle the heavy hips. In the 2nd Kirkvliet tried what the announcer called a "Zain Power Half," but Gable got to his knees and forced a stalemate. Electric HS gym, for sure.
