His mistake is not leaving State College. His mistake was coming to State College with our super strong CB depth. Sounded like James really liked Storm.......

That's screwed up! People need to straighten this out. We're letting children with agents run the show. Things need to go back to the way they were. If you transfer, you have to sit out a year. If a kid is able to earn money on his own by selling his name, image and likeness, good for him. That's his right. But the schools shouldn't be involved.

I think the NCAA did just change the rules on multiple transfers. I think they get 2 total or something like that.

The problem with NIL with no school involvement is that, from a team building and cohesion perspective, the rewarded players need to be the ones that are generally the most deserving (performance + potential).

It's more complicated and nuanced unfortunately; and perhaps not that well thought out.

He was beat out and looked to be a second string player in a strong position group. This is his final season of eligibility, so he wants to go to a program where he is all but guaranteed to be a starter.
Slippery Rock?

He would have been better off at NC if that was his logic. He'll have to compete to start at any P5 program, although he will find less competition at about all but a few P5 programs as compared to PSU.

Just must have decided it's better to potentially start in the muffler bowl than to be a complimentary piece in a playoff game or Rose Bowl...........

I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to NC.

Not that much depth. After 1st string it is basically freshman.

Yeah but he wants to be first team.....sounds like he could not beat out our 1s. He would have played a lot and am sorry to see him go....but Dixon and King are pretty good starting CBs....

You get one "free" transfer as an undergrad without having to sit out...since he already has a degree, he can move around again without penalty.

Wonder what he was told coming here. I know James says compete, but did he think JF was joking?

He was all-ACC. These kids all think they are the guy and they are going pro. But I'm sure after showing up and working through spring he realized, they got some players here.

My Rules:

1. You get 1 free transfer at any time. #2 is a year off.
2. You are not eligible for any NIL until you spend an academic year at an institution.

These two simple fixes will go a long way.
And since we’re in fantasy land, just who do think is going to enforce those rules? Coaches under tremendous pressure to win, all the upstanding boosters or those ramrod tuff compliance enforcers at the NCAA? The rules make sense, but they are useless without proper enforcement, and that’s presently nonexistent. Until we have fair and equal enforcement any rules are laughable.

agreed, they were just ideas on fixing it.

Well, from all-ACC to 2nd string here. That kind of tells you just how strong that position is. Hope one of the freshmen are ready for some playing time.
He would have got plenty of reps to further prove himself even as a backup.

These portal rules must have a big negative impact on academic progress. Good thing these kids aren't trying to play school.

At least with guys like him, he already has a Bachelor's degree and is earnings credits towards a Masters.

Even so those credits might not transfer. It's just a horrible system that is harmful to academics. No professional league has this mess.

He stayed here long enough to realize the competition at PSU was better than him

Oh well.....there's always Bucknell

LSU pulling out all of the stops.

I'm fine with the first one but why shouldn't Bronny James or Livvy Dunne cash in year 1?

Also, this kid is transferring so he can play--NIL isn't truly relevant here. Do we really want kids staying somewhere they're not happy?
