I'm going to nbe in the Biloxi Ms area Friday. I'm not into gambling much, so the casino doesn't interest me. Do any of you have suggestions for good local seafood? Any other attractions to check out.

Need a bit more info to help you out. Don't be too down on the casinos...they are the best lodging choices in the area and are also a good source of non-gambling entertainment.

1) how long will you be there?

2) will you be on an expense account? If so, Mary Mahoney's should be on your list.

3) what are your general areas of interest? Since I think you're ex-military, the Jefferson Davis House is a consideration, but there's much more to do there.

Do you like to fish? Some great 1/2 day charters...

I'm arriving late Thursday night and flying home early Saturday morning. My window of time would be from late Friday afternoon and Friday night. I thought about looking into a fishing trip Saturday morning, but with all the stuff going on at home I wanted to get back on time.

Check out this list. I think you might enjoy the Civil War era fort out on Ship Island. I also recommend Mary Mahoneys for a nice dinner before heading home Sat am.http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g43686-Activities-Biloxi_Mississippi.html

I don't know what kind of expense accounts you guys travel in, but I think Mary Mahoneys is a little too pricey for me. I'm going to try the Half Shell Oyster House. It's a semi chain, but got great reviews on Trip Advisor and I'm sure that its fresh local seafood.

Another recommendation for Mary Mahoneys. It was absolutely the best food I had in the area and one of the most memorable dining experiences overall. Definitely worth the extra $$$.

If you are looking for a little more relaxed, head across the bridge to Ocean Springs. Usually go to Aunt Jenny's Catfish Restaurant or Mikey’s On the Bayou anytime we're there. Waterfront at OS is fantastic, beautiful and not crowded.

There's a great place just west in Gulfport named "The Half Shell". Its a really nice seafood place that is not real expensive. $$$ If you want something nicer, with white table cloths an higher end food, there is a place near the Courtyard Marriott named 'The Chimneys".

Also, the Courtyard is a nicer, newer one. What is cool here is that they have a line drawn about ten feet from the floor which was the water surge line during Katrina. They show a vide of a car being washed through the revolving door and floating into the lobby. The beach across from the hotel is nice with jet ski rentals if you want to get away from Biloxi a little.

Actually, I will be in Ocean Springs (meeting with supplier) during the day. Relaxed is preferred, as long as the food is good.
Study the menus and reviews carefully AND remember that you'll be in coastal Mississippi where they like to deep fry everything.

iIRC Aunt Jenny's is a catfish house meaning that you can get shrimp, catfish, chicken fingers....all battered and fried. The locals love that crap.

I believe that this is the same outfit that I posted above... Looks really tasty and won't kill my expense report.
Yep...there are several of them in the area...I like the gulf port one the best. Its just off the ocean where, interestingly, most of Chaquita imports their bananas. Also, right there, are several good charters for fishing (if you have the time).

Check out the Beau Rivage casino. It is stunning and much like the best casinos in Vegas.

Years ago it was a dump. Then came Katrina and the dump was destroyed. The Beau Rivage got tons of insurance and government money. They rebuilt and the result is a stunning casino. You ought to visit the Beau Rivage just to see your tax dollars at work!!
