The most recent Penn Stater to win the award was football player John Urshel in 2013.

The most recent wrestler to win the award was Rulon Gardner in 2000.

According to one article, John Smith and Bruce Baumgartner were also past winners. Wrestling well represented in this award's history...good to see it not become just another football award.
