I know a lot of people around here are always talking about scholarships. As of a week ago PSU was only offering 85% Not sure if they upped it in the past week to get him to commit but a week ago they were only willing to give him 85%

My totally subjective guess would have been lower.

El Jefe world domination plan in full effect. The tea leaves he and Dunke send are just as good as the guy from Oh St, although that guy is GOOD! Congrtas Mr Suriano and Mr Cortez.

This commitment fills a huge need. Nick should be able to step right in at 125 and be successful as a true freshman. Penn State went from two question marks at 125 and 133 in 2016-17 to Suriano and Cortez in one week. Outstanding!

This also makes things perfect for Lee to come on board next. He'll have high caliber training partners along with the opportunity to redshirt if needed.

I am still hoping El Jefe's world domination team, which adds Red and Lee, happens. A lot depends on how the wrestlers can manage their weight over the course of 4-5 years in college, but his concept doesn't require blue and white eye shades for it to happen.

You're being cranky. I do it hoping to get more people posting here regularly. As for putting them on the main board, it breaks up the monotony of drywall repair posts, Felli's insight into modern religion, etc.

I don't normally do this but I was just over on the Hawk board. They really believed they were getting Suriano and Lee. They were hoping a combination of Lee, Suriano, and Mejia for years to come. Now they're in shock mode kind of. "Well so much for his close ties with Morningstar". Now they're even more certain Lee is theirs'.

Of course. When Cortez announced he was transferring to PSU they were all sure this was proof that Suriano was Iowa bound. They were sure that this meant that Cael didn't get Suriano so he pulled the trigger on Cortez.

Now? Well, now this is proof that Lee is Iowa bound. Is Lee Iowa bound? Maybe. But this isn't proof one way or another. His top two are PSU and Iowa from what we understand. Of course, every time the wind changes direction it's proof that a top recruit is going to Iowa according to that board.

Usually I say to never read the comments section, but this time it's pretty funny:

Both PSU and Iowa are full court pressing Lee. I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe he's leaning in one direction or the other. Both Iowa and PSU are elite, top flight wrestling schools in the country. There's nothing to be read in the tea leaves of other recruits here. Spencer Lee isn't a recruit that is going to shy away from a program because another recruit committed. He's also a guy that every program will make room for, with money. PSU isn't going to lose out on Lee because they ran out of scholarship money for the kid, and neither is Iowa or any other school. He's that kind of recruit. The once in a generation type. They'll find creative ways, with other academic scholarships and such, to get the kid to the school if it's a money issue.

Absolutely. Just look at all the top talent tOSU has brought in over the past couple of years and you'll find that they are capable of landing anyone, including Spencer Lee.

Just watched the second match, Suriano was a Sophmore. Lee won in overtime on a Counter. Suirano actually took a great deep shot in overtime but Lee was able to Use his scrambling and heavy hips to get around at which time Suriano tried to get up and out before Lee had control but Lee dropped to the ankles tripping Suriano and scooting up on him for the Control...Final Score 3-1 Lee

The first match they wrestled was 5-1 suriano I believe on some late match move..I don't remember the details.
