That really does suck, I was looking forward to a Gilman Suriano match. It seems like everyone at the weight has losses against each other (seeding didn't make a ton of sense here), and I thought Suriano had as good a chance as anyone of taking the weight, and also thought he'd be a tough out for Gilman.

I definitely feel for Nick--no one wants to see his dreams disappear like that. That said, how many new enemies do you think his Dad has today? I bet quite a few....
I'm just saying, by all accounts you can end up on that guy's s***list with an errant glance--so I imagine someone telling his son his Olympic dream is done probably isn't scoring very well w/ him right now.

Maybe, but a positive test a positive test, not much USA Wrestling can do about it.
I don't think he was, but I hope Suriano wasn't training with anyone else in the OTTs, b/c then they might be impacted. Or even if he hung out and had lunch with another wrestler.
This is easier to say than it is to do, as the discipline is substantial -- athlete's that have an Olympic dream should live in a bubble, so to speak prior to this tourney, by however many days required (10, 14, 17, whatever). One exposure is all it takes, and now we're what-ifing this into questions about who Suriano was exposed to, and who was exposed to Suriano. Sadly, if Nick was near others, should they be quarantining?
This makes the fact that we got through B10s AND Nats with zero positives seem unbelievable,yet true.
Other than possibly missing out of qualifying 65 and whichever womens weight we still need to qualify, whats the chances they postpone this? How many positive cases would it take?

I'd like to think all the wrestler's Suriano has been in contact with have already been tested.
Regardless of Nick's PSU history, this is sickening to me, as a follower of any sport.
It appears he worked his ass off for the last year and a half, was likely at the absolute top of his game, was doing all the right things, and then gets gut-punched by this.
Despite the fun and misery that we've had at his expense and that he caused, respectively, this just sucks.

I thought we had some matches against a couple guys that were delayed due to injury. I want to say Dake / Dieringer, but I'm not positive. No pun intended.
Seems like as a country we would want our best out there.
If they change the rules for tOSU you'd think it would be possible here.

Postponements are allowed for prevoius year world medalists who already qualified for Final X. Nobody at 57KG has earned that treatment.
2019 world medalists at Olympic weights can ask for a special wrestleoff if removed due to covid. So only Burroughs and Snyder
Nick would eat up Whimpy Knee Lee!! Nick has been tearing it up against top International talent all year. Nick won that prestigious tournament in France in Jan-Feb while Gilman got clubbed down like a chump! They need to have a wrestle off once Nick is fine in two weeks! May the best man win!!

Son of a B!!!!!! It took me 3 years to forgive the kid for the gaping and painful hole he left in our lineup, not to mention IMO we would have landed Spencer if he weren't already committed. I couldn't even say his name for the first year referring to him as 'he who should not be named'
He was my favorite to win the to spot, he was looking awesome and was peaking, almost as if he knew some of Cael's secrets, now it will probably go to the Fixer.

Suriano was #5 but that punctures a gaping hole in the Gilman can't win narrative.
I WON"T BE IGNORED DISTRICT 4!!!! You can live in a dream world! Nick is at his peak. Gilman got abused in France a month ago while Nick beat the guy that clubbed Gilman!
