Suzie McConnell won't return this year to coach Pitt WBB as per Jerry DiPaola from the TriB

Suzie won 2 ACC games this year....a greater than 1000% increase over the Mens Basketball Coach at Pitt.

Old news.....!

This, in my humble opinion, is an example for the thread topics being meaningful thread. The other thread on this is called:

Jerry DiPaola from the Trib reporting Suzie won't return this year to coach Pitt WBB

I knew the thread existed and it took me two times through the list to find it. Someone finding out the news, then wanting to post it, would have a tough time associating Jerry DiPaola with Suzie McConnell getting fired. If that thread topic read:

Suzie McConnell won't return this year to coach Pitt WBB per Jerry DiPaola from the Trib

The eye focuses on the beginning "Suzie McConnell" making it much easier to identify that the topic is already being discussed.

Point well-made. Fixed it for you.

That is tough to hear about a former Nitter - but maybe coaching at this level is not her bag.

edit: She did win coach of year in 2004 in WNBA, so she does have some coaching ability

She was very successful at Central Catholic H.S. and Duquesne University as well.

Women’s basketball at any level is not competitive enough across the board. Take UConn for example. You either have the players or you don’t. There isn’t enough talent to spread around to have multiple competitive programs. Sure, even UConn can lose once in a blue moon, but it’s the exception, not the rule. And for some reason, the talented girls all seem to want to flock to the same programs. Take PSU women’s volleyball for example. Always strong.

FYI - this is my 2 cents with absolutely zero data or facts to back it up. Lol.

Her coaching record at Oakland Catholic 321-86 and at Duquesne 123-68 (51-33 in conference play).

She won three state titles at Oakland Catholic and was state runner-up twice.
