It feels like half of our team has been taken down 1 time or less this year. Does anyone know where or if I can find some of those Stats? Thanks guys

The only stats PSU provides for takedowns are dual meet stats. Also, there's a math error in Jason's stats.

So to call out the actual numbers for discussion:

Wrestler - TDs (taken down by opponent)

Nico - 58 (0)
Conaway - 33 (4)
Gulibon - 11 (3)
Zain - 25 (0)
Nolf - 62 (1)
Rasheed - 12 (12)
Nickal - 32 (1)
Cutch - 24 (4)
McIntosh - 30 (2)
Johnson - 1 (6)

Rasheed's figures surprised me. What's even worse is looking at the figures by period for Rasheed.

1st - 8 (3)
2nd - 4 (1)
3rd - 0 (7)
OT - 0 (1)

Nolf has been taken down 2x, but who's counting ;).

I played back the dual matches in my mind, and you're correct. IMar took down Jason in the most recent dual. Ryerson Dempsey (Stanford) also got the initial TD in their match, so that's 2 TDs right there.

These are stats that I'd love to be able to incorporate into my site....

he was taken down at least once at the nlo

Zain sure doesn't require a lot of TDs, does he? The opponents he takes down are in for a world of hurt. :D

Stats in general are very telling - Rasheed's demonstrate his adjustment to 65 have had a significant impact on his stamina. Sometimes, not always, wrestlers get better at managing "the cut" as season progresses and therefore surprise to upside in post-season tournaments. Let's hope that is the case with Rasheed as he's a talented wrestler.

Other wrestler that stood out was Jimmy imho. His 11-3 TD to Taken-Down ratio is pretty decent on a % basis, but show that the real problem is that Jimmy has not generated enough offense. Jimmy really struggles to "get to his" offense with opponets and get the ball rolling (e.g., figure them out as match progresses) - hard to figure out as he often looks in good position halfway through his shots, but then doesn't seem to "finish" quickly enough while he has the advantage. Tough to figure out given that he looked like he could dominant coming out of high school.

Frank was quoted several times referring to the strength of Jimmy so hard to think its just result of moving up and lacking the muscle. Many here have discussed the short arm - small hands theory. I really believe it's been between the ears in that he just doesn't seem to relax out on the mat. Wants to push the action early - but seems to expend a lot of energy being fought off by opponents. After a few failed attempts being in deep and failing to finish - momentum starts to swing and JG seems frustrated and a bit gassed and things go bad from there. Talented enough to handle less experienced wrestlers, but struggles against top tier and even less talented wrestlers with experience. JG needs good things to happen early and often and ride the wave of confidence. I haven't given up hope he could surprise in tournament time, but just haven't seen anything this season to think he'll have much different results vs. the top guys. I'm sure Cael and staff are working extremely hard with JG.

OTOH, been really impressed with what the coaches have done with Conaway's offense the last couple years. Conway still struggles when he's outclassed by the absolute elite, but against everybody else, he looks really solid offensively and can look dominant at times.

Sometimes the other guy is just better, it's that simple.

Agreed. Conaway potentially having a two-time, back-to-back All-American career would be pretty impressive given that he was not a real high-profile recruit. Conaway is a good example of the quantity of AA-caliber wrestlers Pennsylvania High Schools produce.....it's the reason schools like Edinboro, Lehigh, etc... are usually nationally ranked despite not killing it on the recruiting trail. There are so many AA-caliber wrestlers coming out of Pennsylvania High Schools that many of them aren't even that well known on the national recruiting scene!

Conaway has been very dependable. Has beaten who he should and keeps close with top guys. Agree he looks to be well coached and has shown in his offense. Conaway just seems to be a good kid all the way around. Has done well at PSU.
