Talk of Valencia moving up and Bo making history

All you need is a side by side pic of Mark’s thighs against Zahids. It’s all in the distribution.

Credit to Zahid for wrestling a fantastic finals match against Mark. Zahid did struggle though in the semi's, for whatever reason. His only other loss in a long time also happened in last years' semi's to Mark. Guess he just has had a few tough matches in the semi's.

It was striking how much better he was on Saturday night, compared to Friday night. Again, this doesn't necessarily mean anything and has happened to many wrestlers at the elite level. Cannot and will not take a single thing away from the young man: Wrestled a tremendous tactical match vs Mark Hall and beat him the only way he can be beaten, by continuous motion, volume shooting, constant forward set ups, a tough ride, and even got into a scramble with the best scrambler in college wrestling and did not give up any points. Hats off to Zahid.

But for the second year he looked one way on Friday night, and 180 degrees different on Saturday.

Roar, don't the current rules to weight certification pretty much eliminate the dropping of too much weight?
Current rules ensure a wrestler is hydrated when determining their lowest allowable weight, so yes, it's intended to stop unsafe practices. It was bigger than that though, as the wrestling deaths in 1997 brought about other significant change. Eliminated were any use of saunas, hot rooms, steam rooms or hot boxes. Also gone are diuretics, laxatives, salt tablets, and the like, as well as rubber, nylon, or neoprene suits. Heck, the practice rooms can't be higher than 80 degrees to start a practice!

I think the point now is will Valencia go to 184 or not.
Yeah, got that...it was some of the fascination with how much bigger Zahid looks, including looking bigger than Macchiavello (sp), and something about his legs. Just pointing out the ease with which he managed to wrestle every bout this year, except for some 3rd period gassing against Bo Jordan, and I believe one other, then cruising through NCAA's until he met Mark and had a close bout.

Enjoying the discussions about him possibly moving to 184, that'll be FUN if it happens!!

Wow--wrestling bears no resemblance to my ancient experiences! Can you no longer spit into a cup?

I haven't researched this but I will if it comes up. If Zahid moves up to 184 and Bo beats him in the finals Bo will have won 3 NCAA titles, beating a previous NCAA champ in all three finals, Dean, Martin, and Valencia. Not sure that has ever been done before.
Bo does a lot of funky stuff in folk that exposes himself and he scores a lot of points of his different but very fun to watch style...You will see....I am not sure if you ever come to any practices but you would understand better if you did....Heck you should understand by watching him at Rec Hall or anywhere else in folk..Valencia is no concern to me at all with Bo in Folk style. Plus even in freestyle Bo had already wrestled 4 matches and still only lost by 1 on a hurt ankle...Bet he beats him straight up or even tech's him...Guys who have wrestled before understand exactly what i mean....The majority of wrestlers that go to ASU do not get much better...Not all but most in fact get worse !!!! LISTEN 1 match at a time....I think Mark will beat him and by 4 or 5 points next year if he stays at 174....

Nope, not buying it. Missing that AI vibe. Getting the ramblin down but there is just something off.

Seriously??.....do you actually believe what you typed. I love Bo.....so much fun to watch. That said.......Zahid beat Bo Both times he wrestled him......up at Bo's weight. To say that Bo would Tech him is pretty optimistic or even delusional. To say that Zahid hasn't gotten better belies this year's 2 matches with Mark. It is one thing to drink the Koolaid........but to smoke it is probably not a good idea :)

I believe that the Michigan wrestler gave him more than an easy match in the semi finals this year also. Just watched the match again and it was very close heading into the third, in fact I think it was tied. Wouldn't say he cruised in that match.

Indeed. Amine was a tough out. Someone may remember better, I think it was 5-2 Amine or so after 2 takedowns, though he had nothing for Zahid late in the 2nd, and in the 3rd, with Zahid winning 7-5.

It was and I think the one takedown was questionable, I remember watching and still thought Zahid was going to win after amine getting the first two takedowns off of Zahid’s shots. It should be a good couple of years as Amine, Zahid and Hall all are sophomores
