I'll do a bit of play-by-play. May even throw in the McKenna vs Gross and Cox vs Jackson bouts if I'm ready in time.
Definitely more impressed with the effort of JB
Taylor vs Burroughs (Taylor at 85.7 and Burroughs at 82.3kg, a 7.5 pound difference)
1st Period
Up now.
One minute in, no score. DT with a great shot, JB fights it off.
Burroughs gets a second passivity call, now on the clock.
Taylor up 1-0, 30 seconds left.
No other scoring, period ends.
DT did get hit for passivity with 5 seconds to go in the first.
2nd Period
Good DT shot, ends up getting a pushout for a 2-0 lead, 40 seconds in.
Takedown for Taylor, now 4-0.
JB is hurt, groin area it appears.
Back to wrestling. 1:50 to go.
1:30 to go.
1:00 to go.
JB gets a pushout, now 4-1 DT, 50 seconds left.
Another JB pushout, 4-2 with 25 seconds left.
And another, and another, it's 4-4, 7 seconds left.
It ends that way, 4-4 with DT winning by criteria.
That’s like saying if push outs were worth more JB would’ve won. DT gave up the 1s because he could. Would have preferred if the 3rd and 4th didn‘t come so quickly.DT showed the fight in the last 10 seconds, but JB would have won that match if it was up to judges instead of criterea. Nice battle though.
I don’t know about that. DT almost had an initial TD that was stalemated, and almost another TD but went pushout instead. Should have worked both those TD’s harder. He was just killing time for last 1:30. The ring looked to be unusually small. I think DT could have scored more but was fine w/criteria win. Burroughs was never really close to a TD. Great job DT!DT showed the fight in the last 10 seconds, but JB would have won that match if it was up to judges instead of criterea. Nice battle though.
don't think DT would of allowed it to come down to criteria if he knew he didn't have it. Same with leaving it up to judges if that were the case.DT showed the fight in the last 10 seconds, but JB would have won that match if it was up to judges instead of criterea. Nice battle though.
Yeah, he played it “smart.”. But I don’t think he needed to.don't think DT would of allowed it to come down to criteria if he knew he didn't have it. Same with leaving it up to judges if that were the case.
not going to happen. JB is now on a descent plan...If I am David's manager ( Financial manager )......I would tell him to release the following statement......." I have watched the film and have decided that I really can't claim a "Win". I see now that JB slipped and had a groin problem on my takedown so I am calling it a tie and asking for a rematch". There is serious money to be made on this rematch and I would highly recommend it. I want to see it and I am certain a few million others would as well. Do the smart $$$ thing and make it happen.
CHA fans start yelling for a respect call. Heeeee's respeeeecting!I cant wait to get tanked this wrestling season and confuse stalling for showing respect for the opponent.
Haha maybe 50,000. Wrestling would be in much better shape if this match generated a few million eyeballs watching and paying for it.If I am David's manager ( Financial manager )......I would tell him to release the following statement......." David beats one of the greatest wrestlers in United States history, but seems to get little respect from most of these posters. Bulletin: He won!!
There was an IG post the other day of Cenzo and Taylor saying they were in Lincoln. It looked like Cenzo was in the corner with Casey. If that was him, his coaching resume just went to the top of most ADs hiring piles. Not many coaches can brag they dethroned the King on one of their first coaching adventures.
It also probably doesn’t get to OT without criteria. Odds are Taylor is less willing to concede the last step out and it ends either 4-3 Taylor or 5-4 BurroughsIn these friendly challenges/exhibitions that aren't/don't act as qualifiers why don't they just go to sudden death overtime to resolve a tie. I know that any of the super competitive wrestlers that are involved wold rather have it settled on the mat. And know that Taylor wouldn't be letting himself be push out of bounds so easily in an overtime.
You may be over thinking it a bit lol. But agree it was awesome that they signed up to do it and hope they were handsomely rewarded for it.One realization I had is that DT may have won it the way he wanted to--to face the fierce comeback, and survive it. Either way, props to both competetors for making it happen. I hope they both got paid quite a bit.
