DT said he was "contact traced", explaining the reason for the postponement.

DT gave him way too much respect. Good showing from JB, but I don't think he had the size/horsepower to convert on a takedown.

DT showed the fight in the last 10 seconds, but JB would have won that match if it was up to judges instead of criterea. Nice battle though.

I don’t know about that. DT almost had an initial TD that was stalemated, and almost another TD but went pushout instead. Should have worked both those TD’s harder. He was just killing time for last 1:30. The ring looked to be unusually small. I think DT could have scored more but was fine w/criteria win. Burroughs was never really close to a TD. Great job DT!

That third point for JB should have been grounded. Flo showed a replay from a different angle right after the match. DT was on his knees and slid out.

He also showed JB way too much respect. Should have kept his offense going. Oh well.

Someone tell DT that he is better than JB and does not have to be psyched out for the end of the match. He is now much bigger and controlled the match. I think he could have put a lot of points on the board. Great Psychological win.

Agree. DT should have stayed on the gas. He gave up the pushouts because he could afford to but really controlled the match.

If I am David's manager ( Financial manager )......I would tell him to release the following statement......." I have watched the film and have decided that I really can't claim a "Win". I see now that JB slipped and had a groin problem on my takedown so I am calling it a tie and asking for a rematch". There is serious money to be made on this rematch and I would highly recommend it. I want to see it and I am certain a few million others would as well. Do the smart $$$ thing and make it happen. :)

I cant wait to get tanked this wrestling season and confuse stalling for showing respect for the opponent.

not going to happen. JB is now on a descent plan...

Taylor should have to drop down to JB's natural weight now for a rematch! Taylor gave him to much respect? Come on, remember who Burroughs is! In the many wins Dake has over Taylor, was Dake showing Taylor too much respect? I don't think so.

I'm just happy to watch elite wrestling! Trak, flow and ruffskin are fighting for our business! Love it. Keep it coming! I got more money for ya!

Haha maybe 50,000. Wrestling would be in much better shape if this match generated a few million eyeballs watching and paying for it.

Didn't get to see it. Thanks for the pbp. I'll wait the three or four years it takes to find its way to YouTube lol.

One realization I had is that DT may have won it the way he wanted to--to face the fierce comeback, and survive it. Either way, props to both competetors for making it happen. I hope they both got paid quite a bit.

I still remember the kudos we gave to Steve Bosak for really respecting Quentin Wright that one year in the NCAA finals. What a respectful young man, we said. :)

My two cents

JB is going to have a headache after how many time DT smack his head to keep him off balance/defensive reasons/set ups. I thought for a minute Zain was out there.

You could hear Casey yelling instructions throughout the match, great scouting.

I think when JB slipped, it was due to sweat on the mat from the previous bout.

It looked like Cenzo was in the corner with Casey. If that was him, his coaching resume just went to the top of most ADs hiring piles. Not many coaches can brag they dethroned the King on one of their first coaching adventures.

David beats one of the greatest wrestlers in United States history, but seems to get little respect from most of these posters. Bulletin: He won!!

I believe it was stated that JB weighed in @ 180lbs. The weight disparity is the reason I say JB gave the better performance.

If the bout was competed at a more “even” weight I’d wager the result would have been different.

At end of the day it doesn’t really matter. Both guys got in great competition that will help them & it was fun to watch

There was an IG post the other day of Cenzo and Taylor saying they were in Lincoln.

In these friendly challenges/exhibitions that aren't/don't act as qualifiers why don't they just go to sudden death overtime to resolve a tie. I know that any of the super competitive wrestlers that are involved wold rather have it settled on the mat. And know that Taylor wouldn't be letting himself be push out of bounds so easily in an overtime.

It also probably doesn’t get to OT without criteria. Odds are Taylor is less willing to concede the last step out and it ends either 4-3 Taylor or 5-4 Burroughs

You may be over thinking it a bit lol. But agree it was awesome that they signed up to do it and hope they were handsomely rewarded for it.

Enjoyed the match, agree with most of the takes here. Would've liked to see them roll around a bit more but wasn't surprised to see DT coast to the win. He had more to lose by blowing it to a guy coming up to his weight, even if JB is a legend, even if DT probably wins more exchanges than loses given the weight disparity. I know I heard 180 lbs but JB looked noticeably smaller, I think he'd have a hard time converting if he'd ever reached his legs. Was probably thinking go behind anyway, but never got close there either. DT's only TD was a gimme on a real slip, but he conceded three of the four pushouts. Good for both guys for going through it--JB for coming up, DT for traveling and evidently giving up an overseas tournament this weekend to make it happen.

Really hard to stay on top of your game when matches under the lights are infrequent. DT's last several were March 15, 2020 (Pan Am Qualifier), July 25, 2020, and Nov. 24, 2020. JB's were March 9, 2020 (Pan Am Games), and Nov. 14, 2020. I thought they looked terrific, both learning a good bit, and may change their game plan next time. I do expect there will be a next time ... maybe on DT's turf.
