Teasdale loses to Rumph from Wartburg

Prior to the season, I had said it was a big gamble putting Teasdale at 133 and DeSanto at 141. Now I think it's a clear detriment to Iowa's championship aspirations. Perhaps DeSanto has outgrown 133 which would be the only justification at this point.

Just a little background on Kris Rumph of Wartburg. Rumph is an Indiana kid who started wrestling late (Earliest results I can find are 2015). He's very athletic and was considered very raw coming out of HS. How he signed with Wartburg, I am not sure. But I do know this....
- He won the DIII Regional last year at 149. DNP at Nationals
- He dropped two weight classes and he is ranked #4 now at 133 in DIII
- He was a 3x Placer in the single class IN State Tournament, finishing 1st, 2nd and 4th.
- In 2018, he beat Matt Lee twice, the 2nd time a dominating 20-8 major in the State Quarterfinal at 138 lbs.
- Wartburg is ranked #3 in DIII
- He's a true sophomore. I think he has a very high ceiling.

None of this is to excuse a loss from Teasdale, who is supposed to be the starter for DI Iowa. A starter at Iowa SHOULD beat a DIII wrestler even if he's a NC. But I thought it would at least give some perspective on the guy that beat him, knowing he's not a scrub.

with murin allegedly in a heavy shoulder brace/wrap.......i ask this ???..... when will these tough guys figure out that their ways of training contribute to their medical bills.

when half your team is in some form of brace, you have a problem. It shouldnt take adding a chapter to the 3 inch binder to figure this out.................................

I don't know. Seems to me like PSU/NLWC is among the most beat up the last few years.

this tells me nothing other than GT will struggle to qualify for the NCAA tournament. He has no mat game and his neutral offense is raw. If he stayed at Penn St they could have improved these positions but he didn’t. Every college wrestler has HS accolades that are impressive. If a D3 guy wins the scuffle or midlands I’ll buy in but this doesn’t pass the smell test.

Wait...this can't be true, I read on HR that he was a serious threat to win it all at 133!
I know LMAO at their board. As always.

Just now there is a post from a board regular stating that he has yet to see a post that says Teasdale is dominating or regularly beating DeSanto in the room. Meanwhile the next thread down has a post from yesterday stating that he has confirmed from "very credible sources" that Teasdale is taking it to DeSanto, will be the 133 and not to read too much into the Glynn wrestle off as the coaches consider Glynn to be among the best defensive wrestlers in the NCAA. A couple of posts later Gobblin - the revered insider who bats about .175 on Hawkeye recruiting news - boldly states that Teasdale is a national championship contender and wont finish lower than 5th. That aged well. I guess he meant NWCA, clearly JUCO or D3 titles would be a stretch at this time.

Our Iowa interlopers, and sometimes our own posters, like to temper criticism of the HR, often pointing out there are bad eggs and koolaid drinkers on both sides. But the HR is the cesspool for a reason.

Over there you have a REAL Iowa insider, bnicoll, regularly throwing out accusations of PSU cheating - and then getting all fuzzy on the details when called on the carpet about inaccuracies in his statements. (This guy has access to the coaching staff which makes you wonder - or maybe not lol - what goes on in their heads)

Over there you have a pretend Iowa insider - Gobblin - whose batting average on predictive posts may be lower than that of a middle age Iowa fan whose only exposure to wrestling is reading the HR 14 hours a day from his mother's basement. Guy is a board favorite.

Another well respected poster (over there) who shall remain nameless who routinely puts out takes that make it hard for me to believe he's watched a wrestling match that wasn't online (or read a boxscore which I'm sure he equates to watching a match) most all in the pursuit of diminishing wrestlers that aren't Hawks. When he isn't calling the NCAA or subtely advancing claims that can easily be debunked if you have half a brain, that is.

For BWI to be the equivalent, my guess is that we'd need to see:

Roar start railing against the Brands brothers, the inner circle and Gable's fuzzy accounting leading to the Hawks run of yesteryear.

Ames2State come on here picking a top 3 finish for whichever of the 125s that emerge victorious in the thrilling battle for that spot (although if Ames did post that I might be inclined to believe it from him)

Spyker to reemerge and the rest of the BWI posters suddenly refrain from making jokes about him and begin engaging him in meaningful discussion.

Makes me re think my occasional jab at the inner circle. I mean where else are those guys supposed to go????

It’s going to be eye opening when you aren’t facing some overmatched 15 year old from Oil City who doesn’t have access to Young Guns practices.

He is going to be ridden like a donkey this year. He’s never had to be good on bottom

Ridden like a Donkey ?
Or ridden like a Pony ?

Kiddie parks have “pony rides” because ponies don’t mind having little kids ride them allllllllllllllll day long.

Matt Lee really didn't break out till last season after Rumph was already in college, correct? He finished 7th at states his first two years of high school.

That's definitely correct. Matt developed slower than Nick and Joe. In fact, I thought he might have a chance to win a State Title his senior year and he did a year earlier going undefeated in the process. I was just trying to give a point of reference for Rumph. I honestly thought he would have done well at IU or Purdue and he somehow landed at a DIII in Iowa. Regardless of Rumph's upside, the University of Iowa's starter should not lose that match. As a fellow Hoosier, I'm happy to see Rumph doing well, however.

Luckily, I grabbed diceman's post before he edited it to be more polite :):

... Just now on HR there is a post from a board regular who’s a pedantic, pontificating, pretentious bastard, a belligerent old fart, a worthless steaming pile of cow dung, figuratively speaking.

Meanwhile the next thread down has a post from yesterday stating that the poster has confirmed from "very credible sources" that he himself is old. He should've been out of the game years ago but he can't stay home because he hates his wife. You've met her at team parties, she's the one that gets plastered and calls him a retard.

A couple of posts later a REAL Iowa insider, bnicoll, is the biggest brownnose I've ever seen. He's got his head so far up Mr. Brands' ass, I can't tell where he ends and Brands begins.

The HR is the cesspool for a reason.

Over there you have a pretend Iowa insider - Gobblin - who bats about .175 on Hawkeye recruiting news - who has bad breath caused by gingivitis.

Over there you have WildTurk who couldn't get a porn star off.

Gobblin - the revered insider - has a hairpiece that looks like something that was killed crossing the highway. I don't know whether to comb it or scrape it off with a shovel and bury it in lime.

Another well respected poster (over there) who shall remain nameless is a Loser!

Grip is an Idiot!

Minnyhawkeye is a Wimp!

San Souci is a Degenerate!

Spooner's a SLUUUUUUUTTT!

I'll see you later, dick-heads!

will HR demand conel shave excessive mustache or at least look into the present day legalities

half expecting ticc to raise an eyebrow on bnicals, shall we say, rhetorical tone slush referred to. oh well seasons early

Iowas other stud recruit assad lost to a kid from grandview in the finals

One wonders how he would turn out had he been in the best mid to heavyweight room in the country

See what I mean when I say it goes both ways? Did you see someone start a thread on HR when Teske lost to his own teammate?

So many Lion eyes are focused on Iowa wrestlers in a negative way. As soon as one loses a match or picks his nose in public.. BOOM to BWI to start a thread to trash Iowa and their recruits. Wash, Rinse, Repeat
