Teasdale

There was not a single year in that stretch where PSU was close enough to a title that it would've made a difference.

It would've been nice to not lose some of the guys who left ... but then again, Kolat was on the team in 1993 when we finished 2nd by 36 pts.

Also, it's not like Iowa was a bunch of choir boys during that stretch. After hours was part of the sport then. Different era. We had very good but not championship level rosters then.

NCAA pts (1st, runner-up, PSU)
1990 - OKST 91.5, Arizona State 70.5, PSU 57.5 (6th)
1991 - Iowa 157.0, OKST 109.0, PSU 67.5 (3rd)
1992 - Iowa 149.0, OKST 100.5, PSU 89.5 (3rd)
1993 - Iowa 124.0, PSU 87.5
1994 - OKST 95.0, Iowa 76.5, PSU 57.0 (3rd)
1995 - Iowa 134.0, Oregon State 77.5, PSU 60.5 (5th)
1996 - Iowa 122.5, Iowa State 78.5, PSU 65.0 (4th)
1997 - Iowa 170.0, OKST 113.5, PSU 40.0 (10th)
1998 - Iowa 115.0, Minny 102.0, PSU 70.5 (4th)
1999 - Iowa 100.5, Minny 98.5, PSU 78.5 (4th)

I mean, how long ago did that guy in Hartleton start putting out his homemade "speed trap ahead" sign? 40 yrs ago? Longer? It's not like there are any people in Hartleton to be protected from moving vehicles.

"Charlie says, speed trap ahead". His name was Charlie Buttorff. He owned the Yamaha dealership at the east end of Hartleton. His son Steve still owns the dealership. Besides the homemade signs he actually had a fullsize billboard about 5 miles west of Hartleton. On warm summer evenings Charlie would stand out on the side of Route 45 and wave to slow down traffic right in front of speed trap. 40 years ago is pretty accurate. :) Just some Hartleton trivia.

I commented about the Teasdale situation before. It was known among a lot of high school coaches he was having issues his Senior year in High School. I had it told to me that he had gotten in trouble with pot. That was why I was shocked that Penn State didn't rescind his offer. If I knew it I would have thought PSU would have been aware of the situation.

We probably should have recruited Sasso instead...

My feelings have been well documented about not recruiting Sasso. It looks like Sammy's choice has been good for him. A lot of posters were misguided on Teasdale and Sasso off the mat situations and in the process looked nieve in their argument on why one was recruited and the other one was not.

Feel free to summarize again those views, never tire reading those
