If you did not pay attention you would assume that the background is Rutgers.Someone got paid for that? Good grief.
Doesn’t look like a place where I want to liveSomeone got paid for that? Good grief.
Doesn’t look like a place where I want to live
:-(But it’s a place where some Penn Staters live.
It’s about diversity. You don’t understand that? Not every shot can be of Radnor.
Yes, after they completed the Football game day traffic and parking project last year they started on this project. Both projects have been well received. Increases in resultant donations have funded 6 more Assistant Athletic Director positions.Someone got paid for that? Good grief.

Ugly and depressing. What kid would see that and saDoesn’t look like a place where I want to live
LMAO.It’s about diversity. You don’t understand that? Not every shot can be of Radnor.
Bad way of showing that.Penn State is trying to show that it is there for the entire state. It wouldn’t play well in that vein if they showed the Main Line, Squirrel Hill, etc.
I'm going with "we bad"Yes actually it can. Someone chooses what goes into the promo, so it can be whatever represents the university in a positive light. And yes we all know its all about "Diversity" We WOKE
Totally agree. What a depressing waste of a commercial.Someone got paid for that? Good grief.
Squirrel Hill? Because of mass murder? The last time that neighborhood was featured on national media it was because of the Tree of Life massacre.Penn State is trying to show that it is there for the entire state. It wouldn’t play well in that vein if they showed the Main Line, Squirrel Hill, etc.
In all honesty, Pennsylvania has become an impoverished, corrupt embarrassment. Other than the corruption, I think the commercial perfectly captures the current status of Penna.
We come to Penn State to escape those towns! I don't see the point of showing a general landscape of the entire state, with a focus on some of its worst parts. It is horrible. Depressing shots of mostly Philly and other run down dumps. Yes it definitely represents large parts of PA but NOT State College and NOT Penn State. How on earth does anyone think that is a positive promotion of our university.
Was the media company responsible for this garbage owned by one of the BOT members? We Are.....the University of SlumVille, PA.
My only questions, which won't ever get answered......are
1) Which media company produced this commercial?
2) What pre-production instructions/guidance, if any, were they given to the media company and by which PSU Administrator?
3) Who, or which Committee, reviewed and approved the commercial such that the media producer ultimately got paid for same?
It’s talking about how PSU serves all parts of PA and all of its people. Many, many PSU graduates are sons and daughters of steel mill workers and coal miners. Many are first in their family college graduates. The purpose of a state university is to provide quality and accessible higher education to the state. I see no issue, and the “dumps” in the commercial look just like my hometown...actually much better. It is horrible. Depressing shots of mostly Philly and other run down dumps. Not at the prices they charge todayIt shows that Penn State can serve all of the people of the commonwealth, not just the ones you want to live next door to.
Penn State is a ghetto commercial. This is the absolutely worst commercial I have ever seen promoting a university. All that is missing is a junkie getting shot by a robber in a back alley where the dumpster is on fire.
Well guess what. Probably a lot of us responding negatively to this commercial are or were sons/daughters of of steel mill workers And coal miners. I had both in my family. I grew up in the Warren/Youngstown area and have seen the utter ruin and devastation of what black Monday did to the area. The last thing I would put in a commercial would be the rusting hulks of crumbling industrial buildings. For PA I would be highlighting the beautiful mountains, farming valleys with dairy farms, the nice parts of the big cities and yes, currently productive industrial works. Not the rusted out hulks of what used to be there. It’s talking about how PSU serves all parts of PA and all of its people. People that think this commercial shows the “run down” areas of PA are sorely mistaken, and sound like a bunch of snobs from NJ. Steel and coal towns made this country and state.
How dare you not want to be dragged down to the U's level of misery.Well guess what. Unfortunately, the residents of the places shown in the commercial can no longer afford Penn State. At one time they could, but PSU has become a school for elitists.Penn State is trying to show that it is there for the entire state. It wouldn’t play well in that vein if they showed the Main Line, Squirrel Hill, etc.
