That was the national championship game

Certainly two teams that should have been in the playoffs...maybe this will make the committee start looking harder at who's hot at the end of the season.

Come on now.... Only Pitt grants themselves national championships.

That was, however, a hell of a game.

Lol a 3 loss SC team.
Dumb ass...did you even read his post. He said he wanted to see Bama and Clemson put on a better show than that. Records have nothing to do with it. Were you born this stupid or did you have a major brain injury sometime in your life?

two teams that cannot play defense. not the national championship game

Both would have scored more than zero against Clemson, however.

Similar in some ways to last years' National Championship game, though, with Bama outscoring Clemson in an offensive battle.

2017 is gonna be so much fun for us PSU fans. We'll clean up a couple things with experience and maturity and it will show in key situations. Should be another fun ride!

Great games are defined by winning them. It's a great game for USC.

For us, it is an opportunity to learn about big stages, big stakes, and the minute details that it takes to win them. We will be back here some time, if not next year, the year after, and we will have this learning experience in our back pockets.

I will not criticize Moorhead: Do you want to throw the ball there, and the drive before that? Sure. What are you afraid of? Exactly what happened.

Just wasn't meant to be, too many things against us and just got dominated in the 4th quarter, on the ROAD in a ROAD GAME.

The nice thing about making the playoff, is that the game is USUALLY a neutral site. There is no bigger home field bowl advantage than when USC plays in the Rose Bowl.

We damn near did it.

Come on. It's subjective enough as it is - you're telling me they should have put a 3-loss USC team in the playoffs based on them being hot? Florida State and Oklahoma finished the season pretty hot, too; maybe we could have just told Alabama to sit the CFP out this year based on a hunch.

Maybe they need to expand, or maybe they could just define some damn criteria. The system is ridiculous, what other sport subjectively puts in whoever they want. What other sport judges based on no set criteria. Bottom line is USC and PSU proved tonight I believe they are better than the two teams they already beat on the field that made the stupid playoff.

Yeah, keep Bama out, that's what I said...come on. And everyone said these two teams were the hottest two teams in the country. And my point was if you're going to change the system to try and make it better you have to get away from the old system that you're getting away from not stick by the same old rules.

USC could have never been in with three losses. And I think they got it right with OSU on account of them beating Michigan, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin (it's just too hard to overlook three top ten wins in a one-loss season). I agree that the head-to-head issue throws a monkey wrench into the system, but, like college basketball, subjectivity is just the nature of the current beast, I suppose. If Team A and Team B each have one loss... and Team A beat Team B... but Team A lost to a team with five losses... who is better? I mean, Team A won head-to-head, but Team B's only blemish is against a one-loss team, while Team A lost to a 5-loss team. Different people have different perspectives, and it can be debated until the cows come home. That's just an overly-simplified scenario, and this particular case is a little more cut and dry, in my opinion, since PSU had two losses while OSU only had one. I don't think the bowl results should do anything to prove/disprove that the committee got it right or wrong. I didn't think OSU should have been in over TCU two years ago, even though they ended up winning the title.

The panel selecting the brackets for the basketball tournament gives consideration to teams playing well the last part of the seaon.

It would be nice of the football committee would at least change something in their selection process.

Sorry Alabama and Clemson, but I dare you to put on a better show than that. One of the greatest college games ever; will be remembered for many years to come.

How do get to the game today was the National Championship game? Goofy post!

BTW the 45-40 game they played last year was a great game.

Might help if you read the post and understand it...that's a start.

Just looked it again. His Thread title clearly states he viewed it as the National Championship game instead of Bama/Clemson game. His post talks about it being a great game. Today's game has zero to do with next week's Title game. Other than Penn St lost to a team that got mercy ruled by Bama. Like I said Goofy.

He said good luck to Bama and Clemson to have a game like that....the title might not have been good, but the post was pretty easy to understand.

I'm sure they will both actually play defense in the title game. PSU and USC left their defenses at home.

Michigan really crapped the bed losing 3 of it's last 4. Jimmy may be headed to the loony bin earlier than anyone thought.

Jimbo Fisher wondered where Michigan's vaunted defense was hiding.

Great point - basically a road game. Nothing to hang our heads about.
