Lets say you're a parent with an elite HS wrestler. If you want your kid to have the highest success rate of becoming a national champ and being on a national championship team, there's undoubtably one school that stands out. Not only that, but the other kids already in the program seem to be very well mentored, have good attitudes, and represent themselves and the sport extremely well. You get to thinking, you know, in the long run these elements are even more important.

Question is: Do you spend an extra 50%, let's say, and send your kid to Penn State as opposed to XYZ or ABC University who is offering that full ride? I'm going to say the answer in many cases is, "hell yes"!

THIS is the Penn State advantage and customers will pay a significant premium for a markedly superior product.

Like you said if you want to be a multiple National Champ and be a part of multiple team National Championships you pick PSU....You only live once....Plus Cael Sanderson is an unbelievable human being who will teach your son how to be a VERY GOOD grown man !!!! In addition the PSU alumni base is huge for after graduation or Oly gold !!!!

Watching Cenzo-Hall-and Bo wrestle super tough kids in the finals like they were in just another match and watching their opponents seem to tighten up I was aware of the huge advantage PSU kids have in terms of the level of competition they encounter every day in practice. Our kids face national champions who want to kick their ass every day in practice so when they meet them in a match it's just not that big of a deal.

Good point, but the extra 50% is more for out of staters.

My son is 4 years old now. If he is good enough to wrestle wherever he wants 14 years from now I will encourage him to go to Stanford or Cornell.

But yes I agree that compared to Iowa, OSU, and tOSU. PSU seems to do a better job of turning top recruits into both champs and well rounded men.

Yes, those are both great choices. Top notch schools and tho I can't speak for Stanford's coach, Rob Koll is definitely the kind of guy you would want to send your kid off to (though Rob will be likely be retired by the time today's 4 year old would get there).
Here's another thing to look at though - An all-American or National Champ has the ability to get a free masters degree as a grad assistant/wrestling coach. That said, if a program is better tuned to get the kid a next level degree, I would argue that this is a better option overall. Higher wrestling accolades + a masters degree is of greater value than just an undergrad Ivy League degree imo.

If you are middle class and looking to send three kids to college I think you have to look at the financial package. If you can get a top notch education for free I encourage them to grab that. You aren't going to get paid to wrestle after college. If money is a no object then a no brainer but for most that isn't the case

Grad Asst or Asst coach are both ways to get paid to wrestle after college. So not disagreeing with you on the relative family economics, but that is part of the point I was trying to make in the previous post is that Penn State would be more likely to get you to where you could either coach or get paid to further your education (grad asst), - both of those constitute getting paid, and both options provide good futures.
