The computer has us as 2.5 pt underdogs to Temple

1. The computer probably thinks this is a home game for Temple, not realizing that there will be more PSU fans than Temple fans at the game. 2. Computer polls at this time of the year are worthless since they have no useful data from which to reach conclusions. 3. For what it's worth, Sagarin, which is the most followed computer poll has Penn State by 6.5. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/

I have us by 14-- my ability to predict these games right now is probably about as good as the computers, maybe even better LOL.

You could make the case that Sagarin actually has us as at 12.5 pts considering this is really more of a PSU home game than it is a Temple home game. There will only be one indication that this is a Temple home game ... Temple will be painted on the field. PSU will dominate the stands.

To me, Temple is the game ( of the first 6) that concerns me the most. They have a very solid D-line and decent DB's. They have a redshirt freshman D-line sub named Freddie Booth who is about 310 lbs, and very fast/athletic ( sub 5.0 40). We have a slowly maturing O-line , that I believe will take 3-4 game to gel ----If we can't run with any consistency, I think Hack and the passing game could be in trouble. Hope we come out with a "W"

Turn the computer over to Stella and Pete. They agree with my prediction that we will blow Temple out by 21 or more.

You mean that Temple will be painted TO the field by Penn State!

The game to worry about is San Diego State, and that running back. That's the best running back not named Elliott we'll face all year, by a mile.

I get the feeling that the difference between the psu crowd vs the temple crowd is not going to be as drastic as some people here think. This is their super bowl.

San Diego State does concern me, but being the 4th game, I am optimistic that the O-line will develop some chemistry by then. If that happens, I think we have too many weapons for them. If not, we've got trouble

Even if true, Temple will have little to cheer about so our crowd will seem much larger.

They do have an excellent rb but their starting OT is suspended along with some others.
Their QB is a transfer from Kentucky. They will be traveling so if its a noon game that will be a huge advantage for us.

The 6,000 seats on stubhub and vivid seats make me think it is more their attempted payday than their Super Bowl.

A computer only analyzes numbers. What it doesn't recognize is the different levels of competition in college football. It not like the NFL where there is only one level. To a computer, a MAC level schedule is no different than a SEC level schedule.

Same computer the BCS used?
How a computer can make predictions based on no previous results is one of life's great mysteries which only the suckers who buy Doc's Sports Service can answer.

kinda like bumping or lowering kids on recruiting services without having seen them play a down in the fall?

Temple has had many "Super Bowls" at the Vet, Franklin, JFK, and now the Linc...The crowd will be what it always is: 55,000, and 70 percent PSU.

Stop hyping this game because it's the opener and stop freaking out: We have a ton of talent, and not all of it "young", on this football team, and we have the best passing quarterback in the country.

It's Temple's job to worry, not Penn State's.

Absolutely agree Guns. This angst over Temple borders on delusional.

It's funny... a couple weeks back i really had concerns about this game... and while i expect they'll give us a solid game for 2.5 quarters, i think our talent level will become obvious early on.. meaning so long as we protect the ball, we should win handily (31-14)... which is a big bump up from my previous prediction of 27-20 (or some 7 point margin close to that).

the biggest issue just might be depth, as the game is likely played on a warm, possibly muggy night.

It'll be a muggy night all right.....with Temple getting mugged big time.

OMG, 17 points! But Temple has such a good defense, and this is their super bowl, and their fans will be going nuts, and...and...and I agree, we win handily, but I say 38-14.

Good Lord, if ANY of you take the over you need a 302 warrant put out on you.

Penn State 23 Temple 7 and put the damn pipe down.

And the "7" comes late after the dogs are called off.

Do you really believe this? Their formulas are not that simplistic.

With that said, I don't put too much weight into computer rankings.
