To be fair, it indicates promises they made regarding NIL fell through. I think any player should back out if the promises the staff made don't happen--money or otherwise.MSN

Not enough NIL money. Goodbye.
Sure. Just pointing out this does not happen even 2 years ago.To be fair, it indicates promises they made regarding NIL fell through. I think any player should back out if the promises the staff made don't happen--money or otherwise.
I agree with you. This is the wild west with no end in sight. I’m not sure this new model of cfb is sustainable without some sort of strong guidelines. The NFL is highly structured with strict guidelines and oversight. Why shouldn’t this new model of college football be more structured as well?Sure. Just pointing out this does not happen even 2 years ago.
It’s like Back to the Future college football style. In the wild, unruly early years of college football, players often played for multiple schools in the same season and would go back and forth from one team to another willy nilly.Sadly we are moving to eventually recruiting players on other teams during the season.
I wonder when we get to the point where top players don't even bother signing up for classes. What's the point of it?It’s like Back to the Future college football style. They may not enroll in the spring if they want to portal but you're overreacting here a bit. I know many here don't like the changes but they're inevitable. The players were being used for way too long. They should be able to make money by playing college football. Look at the amount schools make off them? Hackenburg is a great example. When O'Brien left he should have been able to without sitting out a year. Him staying wasn't in anyone's best interest including Franklin's.I wonder when we get to the point where top players don't even bother signing up for classes. What's the point of it?

Because the NCAA is a dummy corporation.I agree with you. This is the wild west with no end in sight. I’m not sure this new model of cfb is sustainable without some sort of strong guidelines. I agree. College football has become a bigger and bigger gold mine with every passing year. Coaches making 10M/year while a star player gets his scholarship. But when you have a kid getting 5M/year in NIL money how do you tell him to go to English class? They may not enroll in the spring if they want to portal but you're overreacting here a bit. Because as long as he's in school he has to attend class. It's simply a requirement. As a coach you don't care if they do well just that they pass and attend. Let's be real--for decades many players, including at Penn State, took the easy way out with classes and did just enough to be eligible.I agree. I've said it before, I think this is definitely unsustainable and we've hit peak CFB.I agree with you. This is the wild west with no end in sight. I will agree with you here. Always thought a player should have been allowed to transfer if the head coach left, or his coordinator, or even his position coach. Not fair to have a kid locked into a new system that may no longer fit his skill set. They may not enroll in the spring if they want to portal but you're overreacting here a bit. But didn't they always? There really is no such thing in the major college sports of an amateur athlete any longer - and it will never come back. Big time booster will now control who goes where for a lot of schools.
Are high school players abused? The players were being used for way too long.
How much do HSs make off kids playing sports? Are high school players abused?
Why did players say they were blessed to receive an offer to be abused?
I doubt this catches on to any significant degree. HS athletes mostly play in obscurity except for their parents etc.HS kids are getting paid now too. Stores are using their NIL for pizza boxes and all sorts of other stuff.
Maybe but it's more than you or I made. Guy I work with said his soccer player daughter goes to school with some young lady who gets $500 a month.I doubt this catches on to any significant degree. HS athletes mostly play in obscurity except for their parents etc.
Just lime 5th grade games at recess!Sadly we are moving to eventually recruiting players on other teams during the season.
Yep. Fun story. My great uncle, joe stydahar (hof) originally enrolled at Pitt. Got a little homesick and went back to his hometown in wv to visit his family. The wvu folks got wind of it and brought him up to Morgantown for the weekend. The Pitt folks got wind of that and sent a team to try to retrieve him. The wv staff hid him in the fraternity houses until Pitt gave up. He never went back to Pitt. And the rest, as they say, is historyIt’s like Back to the Future college football style.
