The Lee is Free - Iowa Edition

Good for him. Maybe if the stars align he’ll run circles around Tomasello in an NCAA semi.

SLee, Suriano, Lizak in the B10....add in cruz and the field. Nato could be in trouble and if he is the Bucks NC chances take a hit too.

Excellent. I'm excited to see what Lee can do in March. I'd love to see him against NaTo in the dual, but we all know the odds of that.

Say what you want about the Brands brothers, but they don't often play the 'protect seeding' game like a certain bronze individual from Columbus.

I would be hard pressed to come up with a single seed protecting move made by the Brands brothers.

I get your point, but Ryan does play the game. The Brands boys do not.

Adding to an already good weight to watch- Lee's shirt being pulled plus Bresser's showing last week and Rivera's season/showing last week make 125 even more "must watch" wrestling. Move over 165 and 141.

Unless looking to avoid a style matchup, seeding at the top may not be as big an issue as most weights with 6 legit title contenders at the weight (not including Rivera/Bresser). Barring major upsets and injury, there will be 2 or 3 quarter final matches pitting title contenders against each other with the others having a guy like Rivera or Bresser.

and the blood round will be nuts cause there are bound to be huge match ups on the backside with talented or NC caliber guys not making it out.

Looking at 125 makes me smh at all the naysayers who call tOSU the favorite this year. Tomasello is always counted for tOSU as a Champ or finalist. Coming off injury, non-championship yearS, and having to deal with Suriano, Lee, Cruz, plus a number of pretty dangerous guys at 125. Meanwhile Cenzo is automatically discounted to 3rd and Hall to 2nd (with 3rd a possibility) in their scenarios. Hell, it's possible he ends up in the 5/6 match.

Like I've posted before, it's not a championship season for us unless somebody is ranking us 2nd or 3rd somewhere along the way during the season. Happens every year.

Given his reported reluctance to cut to 125, the chances of NaTo hitting a speed bump Friday afternoon or night were already realistic before Lee's shirt was pulled. While he can definitely beat anyone in this field, he wrestles very close matches against top tier guys and when he does get beaten, it's late. I think there are plenty of guys who could beat him on Friday.

I can picture Tomasello starting the third period down with Lizak on top.

Given that Tomasello question his love for the sport two years ago after wrestling at 125 when he finished 3rd, not sure why he is ranked number 1 given his injury and challenging cut...probably to generate interest, can't have PSU #1 in all the rankings.

Let's go for the maximum insurance policy: #FreeTheFix

Was also thinking having Fix in the mix would be incredibly entertaining. But Picc is also uber talented.

Really looking forward to watching...

Whoa. And now that NaTo is back, we'll surely see NaTo Lee at the Jan 21 tOSU Iowa dual.... right?

Live look at tikk while posting this:

pretty high praise from Brands... dont think he would say it if he didnt believe it

I wish they would stop it already. Another ×#$@/$# Hawk I will root for. Gee whiz man. Pretty soon they will all be PA kids and I will find myself rooting for enough Iowa wrestlers that by default i will be cheering Iowa as a team.
When is the insanity going to stop?

Well, they didn't get any PA kids this year, went hard after Hidlay but missed, and Duggan transferred to IC West but is headed to ISU. And while it's early, haven't heard any chatter about 2019 PA kids interested in Iowa.

OTOH, PA kids going tan ... Pletcher, Campbell, Smith, Hoffman, Sasso ...

My gosh this is exciting, 125 is going to be nuts come NCAA's. Hate to admit it but I am rooting for Lee to win it all.

Can't explain why. At least exactly, but rooting for Lee, Kemerer, Young and Murin as Hawks is not difficult.

Once a kid has entered the evil, yet quite tan, empire it is rather easier for me to not root for them. Not that I stand and cheer as they bite the dust, but nor do I find myself quietly rooting for them at any particular time.

Brooks was held out while completely healthy against Indiana because he had narrowly beat Jackson at midlands. seeding move all the way.
