I’m one of the first people who enjoys poking fun at Iowa fans & HR posters when they deserve it, but I also think you need to be fair & accurate.

The place looks half empty but it seats 15,500? Right ?

So that’s still ~ 8000 fans in attendance. And it’s probably -5 degrees in Iowa City tonight.

That’s not shabby.

All accurate. And the student section is right by the tunnel there and classes are out of session. But yeah typically duals against these types of programs only draw 4-6k if I had to guess.

I always give the Hawk fans for showing up to support wrestling, so even if 8,000 in attendance I am surprised. This was the official debut of the "One" anointed with the responsibility of program resurrection.

Bring back JV matches or have some freestyle exhibitions. I have a 90 minute one way to Rec Hall and I'm sure some Iowans travel further to Carver. Long time in a car for a super quick dual.

I would think Nato's lack of matches might leave him unseeded at the Nationals. This just might leave him hitting a big road block early and a lot of wrestle back matches to get a high place on the podium. Damned nice tought

I have about double of your drive and it used to be almost 4 hours each way until this season. I don't mind the drive now, but there was one match in the last Sunderland year (Wisconsin) where the team was so flat (even Molinaro got teched), I seriously entertained thoughts of giving up my season tickets for the next season.

Attendance was announced at 8600, was probably more like 7500. Also the section you can see in the video was the student section and they are not in session. Expected blowout and very cold. Should be full vs okie state next weekend.
