I was really sad to see Jared go down at the scuffle. This kid has gone through a lot – transferring to PSU, sitting out a year, dealing with last year’s injury and now this. Does anyone have an injury update? We are fortunate to have Nick Lee fill in at 141, but it is clear that once Cortez heals up, there’s not much chance for Jared to occupy 141. With the way Nick is tearing up 141, what’s in the future for Jared? He’s probably not going back down to 133. The scenario is similar to what we have going on at 197. I love what I’m seeing with Lee and Rasheed, but I feel badly for both Cortez and Cassar.

Schnupp might be replaced by as early as this week.
Carpenter gave all he had last year, now he can't get in the line-up. Looks like Cutch isn't going to get one last shot at AA.

There are lots of back stories on this team. I agree that when you look at each one individually it's easy to feel badly for them, but it is what it is.

Cael is preparing to send our best team to Cleveland. Would you have it any other way?

One possibility is that Lee redshirts next year and Cortez wrestles 141. I don't know about 197. Just saying.

Maybe just earn more college credits and get a good job. Could be worse

Could Jared get a medical "redshirt" for this season?
If so could Jared wrestle 141 and Nick replace Zain at 149?

This is a sport where everything is earned and he is not going to be given a position next year just because he was hurt. I'm not sure how medical redshirts work in wrestling as far as amount of matches wrestled etc.

If he is the best, he should wrestle; otherwise not.

Cortez knew transferring here that he would have to battle for a spot eventually. That is what comes with being a part of this team. I’m sure he is disappointed but happy for his teammates.

If Rasheed is the guy at the end of the year, I expect Cassar to take a ride on the cruise liner back home.

Cutch is having surgery.

Kuhn will be the starter. This weekend or next. His debut might come against tOSU.

(d) In individual sports, the injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than
three dates of competition or 30 percent (whichever number is greater) of the maximum permissible number
of dates of competition as set forth in Bylaw 17 plus one date for a conference championship (e.g., gymnastics:
13+1=14, wrestling: 16+1=17), regardless of whether the team participates in the conference championship,
provided the institution is a member of a conference and the conference holds a championship event
in the applicable sport

I see you're on record now with both 197#'s. Whichever one doesn't get the nod post season will transfer [SR or AC].
IDK, but can definitely believe that. Just sayin... cause you do seem to know some things, so it's interesting.

Only one I heard for sure was Rasheed if he did not start. Seeing how things are going now, I’d expect him to stay.

Cassar was just my opinion.

That could actually be an option. Might come down to how teams like Ohio St, Iowa and Okie State project at NCAA's in 2019.

With 1 more year of eligibility left (w/o applying for a 6th year) I could see Cortez starting next year and Lee redshirting.

Cortez would need to graduate 1st if he wanted to wrestle at another D1 school. Then he would have go through whatever waiver process Downey is in now. He could be a more valuable grad transfer if he's granted a 6th year giving him 2 years to wrestle.

PBS, you are forgetting about the Penn State transgressions that would surely allow the B1G committee to give unanimous approval for an in conference waiver without losing a year. He should transfer to Iowa and solve their 133-141 problem.

Sad - you’re not even making a lick of sense anymore. Cael has reduced you to this kind of witless display. An American Tragedy you are.

I can understand why Jammen thinks this.

After all, he has committed countless transgressions and been able to transfer back and forth between Minnesota and Nebraska without having to sit out a year.

He misses the below-market rent on his Dinkytown Apartment provided by JRob.

the worst part of the JRob scandle for me...is that we traded the I want to be somebody commercials every break for the mat hoist commercials. Outside that I dont see the difference between what was and what is.....

Cael has nice problems but decisions have to be made. A luxury of talent at 197 and issues at the lighter weights. That's why he makes the big bucks. Taking the NCAA last year with only eight wrestlers, pretty amazing.

Had to smile when I read "sending our BEST to Cleveland, an oxymoron. I live within driving distance, a little over an hour/hour and a half but saw the ticket prices going over $600 for a seat. Too steep for me. Had to take my Cleveland shot. What a town. People streaming out of it constantly with the usual issues......its Ahia.

Wait, you'e telling me Minny has a wrestling message board??? ;)
So they told you how Goodale recruited the kid?
Only Jammen would cite his own quote as proof of his theory that nobody else knows or cares about.

TL;DR version:

For the life of me I just can not figure out why Jammy doesn't just put on a Minnesota championship t-shirt from last year, swallow a couple xanax and just enjoy tonight's match. He already knows the outcome, but he could in a buzzed state entertain himself trying to keep up with offensive points Penn State scores.

It is a real shame PSU is no longer tied for fourth place with the gophers.

I have to say it is a shame that I used to root for the Gophers as I respected J and Eggum but jammenz has made me aggressively root against them. I don't want to but can't help myself. Kind of the same thing re rooting against MD because of Ficker. A**hole fans cause that to happen. Shame really.
