Strength of schedule screwed Penn State in 68, 69 and 73. The polls just reflected that.

Look at the current top 8. At least two of those teams will have three losses by the time selections are made. I'd be willing to bet that will be true any season. So any argument is going to be over a couple of three loss teams- is that really a big deal at that point? However many playoff teams there are there will be teams left out.
There are more than 5 conferences. Sure the major conferences would be in with their champs but the SAME conversation would be going on with regards to the smaller conferences. Western Michigan? Boise State (as an example)
And what if we have a ranking like we have now... and say a major conference champ DOES get left out?
Adding teams does not respolve the problems.

With victories over the mighty Pac Ten north, and Idaho.
Don't be so sure. The resume and body of work argument would still exist. The concern is the motivation of the committee not how we think it is or should be run.If PSU was 11-1 we're in the top 4 at this point. There's a big gap between 11-1 teams and 11-2 teams

That gap is one player catching one pass that hit him in the hands against Pitt. It's not that big.
And Mr Hamilton is not done yet...I have a gut feeling that he will be HUGE this Saturday night in Indy.
