The stadium sound system

That stupid blaring of that idiot screaming “make some noise” - drives me nuts.
The volume is excessive...even though the content is lousy, I could suffer through it without the volume..no matter where I sit in the stadium...earplugs are a must for me anymore

Before all of that millennium-required, aspartame-like stadium-experience fodder was force-fed into the stadium, the gameday experience was second-to-none

It's the same everywhere now, or so I hear from people who go to other venues. Crazy Train, the "Make some noise" guy, "everybody clap your hands," on and on. Givin' the people what they want I guess.

It's more annoying when watching a televised game at the Bryce Jordan Center for basketball. The crowd is often sparse and it seems like every two minutes you hear a super-loud Crazy Train "All Aboard! Hahahaha" without much crowd noise to drown it out

Noise is great when it's an organic reaction to a play or a situation. The endless bombardment of sound for its own sake is maddening. Get off my lawn, or whatever. I wouldn't like it if I were 25 years old either. If it's at the same level all game, does it really make a difference if it's loud with 8 seconds on the clock on the south end when the opponent has been hearing the same thing on 2nd and 6 in the first quarter? They all go on silent counts anyway. Just something to discuss, nothing I can do about it.

I don't mind crowd noise or even the pep band, but the noise level from the sound system at Pegula is so bad/loud that I don't go to my seat until just before puck drop, and I refuse to buy any food items in the arena. I'm often can't hold a conversation with the person next to me when music is playing on the sound system because it's so loud. What is the purpose of that other than intentionally trying to annoy fans?

It is a big part of the reasons I gave up my tickets.
I'm seriously considering giving up my club seats. Between the excessive sound system music and the goalpost net that is always up, I keep asking myself why I'm spending significant dollars just to get so annoyed.

Do they still tell people to not block the isles, walkways, and portals?

And don’t leave today’s game without a copy of the Beaver Stadium Pivtorial?

Yes everyone should sit on their hands and be quiet during the game. Silence is golden.

It’s tacky and lame. People look forward to these games all week, drive hours and spend lots of money. We don’t need hackneyed over played classic rock songs to get pumped up.
It’s also embarrassing how they often continue the sound as the opponent is at the line of scrimmage. I did a poll years ago on here and the large majority agreed that the canned music should be scaled back significantly.

"We Will Rock You" was passe in the 80s yet we still hear it every home game. I'm in the south upper deck and have given up trying to talk to the person beside me. There are times when the wannabe DJ is playing a couple songs at the same time, the Blue Band is playing and the PA guy is talking. The result is you can't understand any of them and all you hear is garbage.

We have, unquestionably, the WORST PA announcer and audio experience in major college sports, let alone professional. He is so awful it’s not even worth comparison. Whatever his name is that butchers calls and his pitch and generally embarrasses psu over and over and OVER again and has for 20 years now should be shamed of himself. But because it’s PSU he has a job for life and there is no accountability and this pathetic atmosphere is memorialized for the next 30 years.

This was Steve Jones' job when Fran and George were on radio. Jones was great at it. Down and distance, so-and-so on the stop. Not "THIRRRRDDDD DOWWWWWNNNNN...." but again they all do it including NFL stadiums. The Vikes have the horn, the Pats have the fog horn, etc. Everything changes, eh?

His name is Dean Devore. If you think back, he has changed his style significantly over the last 7-8 years. He was not always like that.

Dean is Soooooo Baaaaaaaddddd! He needs to go. The sound system needs a serious upgrade along with the same corny songs. You can't even talk without screaming to hear over that God awful audio system. Dean makes it worse really needs to be doing something else at Penn State not the lame audio guy at Penn state football games. He has truly turned me off to going to games along with that shitty sound system.

Agree 100%. Far too loud, and just unrelenting. Rarely a break in the wall of noise. I've got to believe that the university has received hundreds of complaints about this, but It just keeps getting worse
