The world needs more patience. Is the Creamery line the longest you voluntarily waited in?

I've done some Black Friday lines for the boys when they were younger so that was a longer wait time wise.

In terms of the amount of people in front of me, the line at the 2016 Big 10 Championship Game to go to the Penn State Pep Rally was perhaps the longest in terms of the amount of people in front of me. I sent my son to find the start of the line and I thought he went to the bathroom it took him that long to get back. When he returned his face was as if he saw a UFO. He said, "Dad this is longer than any line at Disney World." What was funny was you could walk right up to the desk for Wisconsin's Pep Rally.

I have never waited more than an hour to ride an amusement park ride that lasts two minutes.

What were your longest lines you voluntarily stood in?

Very interesting question, john. I hate lines and rarely wait for anything. If a line is too long, just I move on. Nothing is worth more than my time. Hmmm. I'll have to think on that one.

Expo 67 my wife and I waited over 4 hours to get in the American Geodesic Dome Pavilion. Part of the hold up was they held the line to allow Charles de Gaulle to enter and view the exhibit with his entourage only after the pavilion had cleared.

That is patience.

LAX when security measures were first increased following 9/11. Holy smokes. Good thing I got there waaaaaaay early.

Either:

Tutankhamen exhibit, circa 1975

Or

Jim’s steaks on a Saturday afternoon of ncaa lacrosse final four.

You took the words out of my mouth.

I don't wait in lines. (longer than say 5-10 minutes... a standard checkout line)

Only times I've ever gone to the creamery were when there was no line.

Not waiting in line, but once was in Atlanta for a conference. I was living in Charleston, WV, at the time. For some reason they had me flying through Detroit. And the conference was in January.

On the way to the conference, it was snowing in Detroit, so they just bumped me to a direct flight to Atlanta. Not so lucky on the way back. Flight left Atlanta early in the morning, like 6 am. Got to Detroit, and there was freezing rain in WV. Flight gets delayed. Then it starts snowing in Detroit. Flight gets delayed again. Finally we board, and sit on the tarmac for two hours as they de-ice the plane. Then held up some more because President Clinton had spoken to the UAW and we had to wait for AF1 to take off. Finally leave around 6 pm Central time. Then, find out we were heading to Roanoke first, but visibility was only half a mile, so after flying around for about a half hour trying to get clearance to land, they say screw it, and head to WV. Finally landed around 9 pm. Felt bad for the people headed to Roanoke, because they had a bus waiting for them to take them there (another 4 hr ride). My friend went to the same conference a week later, and they were talking about travel arrangements, and mentioned they still weren’t sure if one person had made it home or not.

In the late 80's and early 90's I was flying back and forth to/from Moscow every 6 weeks. When we headed to Sheremetyevo airport for the flight home, you had to get there when the airport opened (5 AM) for any west bound flight regardless of flight departure time. Typically, all flights west bound departed early in the AM but it didn't matter. Clearing security was the problem and, if your were tight for time, they wouldn't let you through without a big hassle and a huge bribe ($100-$300).

Once you cleared security, you'd then sleep on your luggage until the check in kiosk opened (usually with a hangover that would kill a rhinoceros) . When the check in opened, there was a mad rush to be first in line. If there were Soviets in the line, they would sometimes resort to fisticuffs for a place in line (they wanted on that west-bound plane even more than westerners). After check-in, you would go to your gate and wait 2-3 hours for your flight. I saw some of the most bizarre things in that airport during that time period!

Flew in there as a student before the fall. Professor brought an entire suitcase of marlboros. Took a while to clear, but We never waited for anything on that trip.

Recently spent a few hours getting through an Illinois Secy of State / Motor Vehicle office getting my REAL ID.

Would rather have been in The Creamery line or a line at Disney!

I've waited in lines for chair lifts, or gondolas, that seemed insanely long. Most of the times it was only on holiday weekends, though you can encounter the situation at Pocono ski resorts pretty much any weekend once all the slopes are open at the resort.

It used to really drive me crazy when I had dressed somewhat lightly -- appropriate for skiing, but not appropriate for standing in a super long line in below freezing temperatures.

@john4psu, I'll never forget the 1st time I was at Vail, on a holiday weekend. I immediately went to the back bowl, and couldn't believe that the longest line I encountered there was 4 or 5 people. To die for. Alas, the lines at the lodge, when getting lunch, were terrible, so even Vail had a shortcoming. ;)

You obviously were never in the military. They have a saying..."hurry up and wait"

I waited 75 minutes on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to buy some beer at TreeHouse Brewing in MA. It was worth every minute. My wife was with me so we could double up on the limited quantities.

I stood in line for a year and a half to get a date with the gal who became my wife!!!

I registered late for classes and had to stand in line to do it manually....seven hours total.

The creamery lines go pretty fast in my experience. I’ll only wait if it is something with the family.

I remember going to PSU/Temple basketball around ‘92 where the line stretched way down Burrowes. All I remember is that when we walked up to Rec Hall to check things out (no way i could wait) all hell broke loose with a mad scramble to the door.

When in college, circa 1995, Live played at Rec. tickets went on sale at like 8am at Eisenhower. We waited at least 12 hours and the line wrapped the whole way around the building. When the box office opened the people at the back of the line, which was right at the front, rushed in. Charlie Foxtrot.

Two weekends ago. Baltimore Aquarium with my grandkids. $1.00 admission.
What a f-ing mess.

My wife and I were in New Orleans last month and waited 30 minutes to get into Preservation Hall. The show was worth the wait; the other people in line were good to hang out with for a while; and open containers are allowed, even encouraged, in the French Quarter. Normally, if the wait is more than 15 minutes, I'm moving on.

I waited outside Spartan Stadium in a storm two years a few years ago. Not a great experience once I was left back in either

Probably 3-4 hours for the Uffizi Gallery in Rome.
Should have taken you longer then. The Uffizi is in Florence....;);)

Seriously, though, advanced, timed tickets to that and the Vatican Museums are the way to go. Saved us a bunch of time this summer--and in 100 deg heat in Florence. Nice thing was that we also had tickets to the Accademia to see David, and the folks there printed off our tickets for the Uffizi the next day, saving us a line.
