This is among the reasons why my love for all things PSU is waning

I understand the concept of demand v. supply, but I really hope this entrepeneur - who has stones to list his Overnight RV passes for $3k each - finds himself with with an acute urinary tract infection...

https://pennstate.craigslist.org/tix/d/overnight-rv-for-pitt-and-mich/6268872818.html

Thankfully with my kids' HS football schedules neither of those contests were options for me... though with patience and persistence, I was able to find a Blue (preferred) RV parking for Rutgers for $150... but there are more than a couple Nittwits listing theirs for $4/$500 ...

Makes me not regret (so much) my son's recent decision to stiff-arm the prospect/reality of out-of-state PSU tuition and attend college elsewhere...

Can't deny the odor of "country club" at PSU was always there... but, to me, the stench is turning me off to what should otherwise be a great way to spend a fall afternoon with family and friends... this is the "culture problem" that has been turning me, an alumnus, off to things Penn State...

I have no problem with selling the prime game stuff for over ticket/pass value but 3K? Hope they get stuck with it and cant go....

For decades I thought Penn State, and her alums/friends, were different than other schools. I bought into the whole "Camelot" ideal. Over the past 6+ years I've come to realize that we are no different. All schools have their share of great programs, terrific students, benevolent alums, and other matters in which they can take pride. They also have their share of scandals, ne'er do wells, villains, and matters which cause much embarrassment. We are no different. We have THON and we have Sandusky. We have a terrific wrestling program and we have a terrible Board of Trustees. What we have more than most places is arrogance among our alums. Call it the "Michigan Syndrome". They have it down to an art form. This is not to suggest we should not take pride in what we do best, but let's not deceive ourselves into thinking we are alone in our accomplishments. Penn State is a great University. So are scores of others.

This is why I invested in a 12 x 20 walled canopy, which goes up in my backyard at the beginning of the season and comes down after the final game. Big screen TV, sound system, beer, friends and family. And I don't travel more than 50 feet. Love the games live, but too much expense for this buckeroo.

Is this really 'all things Penn State' or pure greed/opportunism? My guess is this happens everywhere.

The issue is that the newly formed RV HOA (some post here) along w/ the U created this problem. That you can not provide a place to park an RV on a Thursday or Friday night @ Beaver Stadium is astoundingly stupid.

Indeed it does, which goes to my point that we are just like everyone else. I was slow to realize that, but now that I do, it makes my conversations with alums of other schools much friendlier. My arrogance is gone and reality has taken its place.

Please take this opportunity to remember that everything about Penn State is awful and will only get worse.

I wonder if the b.o.t. members and AAAAD employees get complimentary ORV passes each season? Hmmm...

People asking $3000 to park a motorhome for three nights is not happening at Cornell, Univ. at Buffalo, University of Rochester, Hamilton College, Colgate, Syracuse, LeMoyne, St. Bonaventure, Binghamton...

"All things Penn State" relates to out-of-state tuition that is embarrassingly high vs other options, out-of-range room and board (someone's gotta pay Mark Dambly for his $300k per unit student-housing builds) ... the "if you don't like it then eff-ya" disposition...

Someone is asking this price on Craigslist. Why does this upset you? It is practically meaningless. Only a moron would pay $6,000 for two temporary RV spaces. I could post a spare tire and ask for 7 million dollars for it.

Pride goes before a great fall

Many PSU alums were sanctimonious before the scandal, myself included

I guess now we blame barren and the bot for prices that people post online. This would never have happened when Joe was around.

What is the going rate to tailgate with an RV at LeMoyne? Big football up there.

Yes, clearly it is Sandy Barbour's fault that there is a delusional RV pass scalper in Harrisburg.

Meanwhile in state tuition is free to NY residents.

Free to SUNY and CUNY schools which are "state" schools. Penn State is not a PA state school. The equivalent to what you're suggesting would be free tuition to Bloomsburg, West Chester, Slippery Rock, Lock Haven etc.

Correct, but this is different. This is akin to a 7-11 shutting down their Slurpee machine in the middle of August. Not because they are out of Slurpee mix, but just because they think people have had enough.

No it is not stupid. Those lots by Beaver Stadium are parking spaces for faculty, staff and students with commuter permits that need to park there Thursday and Friday. Also BJC may have an event Thursday or Friday. It would be astoundingly stupid to ask thousands of permit holders to relocate so RVs can come park early on Thursday/Friday.

Never understood RVs or why people buy them in general. They are like 200,000 dollar motel rooms with really narrow hallways.

My wife, my kids, my friends' wives/kids .... there's a nice bathroom in my narrow hallway with no line/no waiting, and no feces smeared all over - at least most of the time ;)... thus they need not stand in line with you in a field just for the priviledge to pee in a filthy plastic hut on a football Saturday

I can put everyone in my motorhome and all 18 of us come into the tailgate area in one vehicle... that's part of the fun... more fun that trying to get four cars close-together with a EZUp...

My motorhome is not unlike like a boat (except it doesn't roll down my driveway in into the woods)... sometimes we wonder why we bought it - it takes up three car-spots in my driveway seven months a year and requires maint/upkeep$, but sweet-redemption comes during tailgate time!

I started out in the '70's when we could get a hotel room for 1 night at a reasonable price down town. It went from there to more than one night required and the prices skyrocketed. I then started staying out away from SC. Night games were a real challenge. I finally broke down and bought an RV so I could go to PSU games at a reasonable price. (costs me about $300 to drive up and back and stay 2 nights). Then the overnight lot priced me out and I stayed at the local Walmart lot. I use the RV for more than football so it's been great in that regards. I do have enough room for me and the family at a reasonable cost. Just my RV story and it was PSU football that started it all.

Really? All programs have produced graduation rates and true "student-athletes" just as well as PSU -- i.e., the "Success With Honor" mantra and objective of the "Grand Experiment" promoted at PSU? I call bull$hit, name me all these programs that have been as successful as PSU both on the field and in the classroom. Notre Dame certainly has a claim that they have been just as successful, or perhaps even more so, than PSU, but your "relativism" in defining down the level of "success" that one has a right to be proud of in regards to their Alma Mater's Program is patently obvious.....and frankly pathetic.

You do know the ORV lot is a PASTURE/HAY FIELD, don't you?

Doubt anyone would pay it.

For $3K, I could stay at a hotel, hire a limo, and use that new turnkey tailgate service to avoid the hassle of setup/cleanup.

Please, Binghamton, UB, Albany, Geneseo aren't exactly Bloomsburg, Slippery Rock, LHU... Brockport? Oswego? cortland? Yeah

You missed the point, or chose to ignore it.

Don't go bringing up little things like facts with one of the corrupt, "entitled" (for what reason who knows), little douche-bag @sshole boot-licker's of the corrupt bureaucrats...they don't need no stinking facts (or pesky little things like "accountability")!

You mean like fact that poster said at Beaver Stadium not out at current ORV? Or the other fact that current ORV is not at Beaver Stadium.

Manc, to be fair there is nothing remotely exciting at any of those campuses that you mentioned that would warrant such an obscene markup in prices.

If you have the fever for PS football then you are in the pricing war for a lot of needs: [parking, tickets, lodging, meals]. It just sounds like your fever for the product has waned. Understandable.

I do wonder if PS will feel any impact of free tuition in NYS. I understand that your son found a option for college better for him than PS, but, I live in town here and there are a tremendous amount of out of state plates [NY and NJ especially] for move in weekend. The education here really is still in big demand, even for out of state students....

Massimo lives in NY.

Why do you say that PSU is not a state school? Residents pay approximately 1/2 the tuition paid by residents of other states.

If you're saying that PSU is a bigger school, The University at Buffalo has an enrollment of approximately 30,000. I suspect you're saying that PSU is a higher quality school. Maybe, but a lot would depend on your major.

Your comparison is incorrect. Cornell is the "Land Grant University" in New York and the tuition isn't free jasper. Cornell was split at the time of its naming as the NY State Land Grant Public University - its colleges which were funded under the "Morrill Land Grant Act of 1862" (Engineering, Agriculture and Teaching) became a Pulbic University, while other Colleges were maintained as Private Colleges, which remains true to this day (i.e., Cornell has both Private and Pulblic Colleges within its overal "Institutional Structure" which predates the Morrill Act). See the following LINK directly at Cornell's website, which clearly states that Cornell is a member of the "Association of Public and Land Grant Universities". PSU as an institution pre-dated the "Morrill Land Grant Act" as well, but when PSU was "reorganized" as PSU and named as the sole-recipient of the Federal Land Grant Act proceeds, PSU was structured as a "singular" PUBLIC INSTITUTION via Legislation by the PA Government that not only formed the new University, created it's seminal "Founding Charter" (and bylaws), but also DEEDED the University to Citizens of Pennsylvania in perpetuity (i.e., PSU is a part of the "Public Trust" just as a State Park is....).

The Land Grant Universities (Colleges in the case of Cornell) are "Public Institutions" in that they are deeded to the "Public" in perpetuity via their founding legislation. The nomenclature that Pennsylvania uses in regards to it's "State University System" (i.e., schools run directly by the PA Department of Education rather than Public Schools that are "self-governed" by charter) is just that "nomenclature". Yes, the PA "State University System" are "Public Schools", but so is the "Pennsylvania State University" and all of its "branch campus system" a Public School as well.

Read again. OP said "Overnight RV passes", and never mentioned Beaver Stadium.

You need to be able to read as well. Go back and see what Mt Nittany typed. My Nittany says "at Beaver Stadium." I said poster not OP. I will post it for you to make it easier for you.

No, you just got caught not knowing what you are arguing about, and looked for a way out. You're on ignore.
