I couldn't help but remember Brandon Wimbush's HS coach's comments about the types of kids who go to Penn State during his recruitment. If you recall, some reporter followed Wimbush and his head coach around for a couple days and the guy, following an interview with one of the kids coming to PSU, made some derogatory comment (okay, he implied some derogatory thoughts about the kid's) when telling Wimbush he didn't belong at Penn State with "those types of kids". Why did I remember this? While listening to the player interviews this season and especially over the last 10 hours or so, it struck me the "types of kids" we have at Penn State. I have honestly not heard a more articulate, humble, intelligent and sincere group of player athletes as I have from our Penn State football players. I must admit, I smiled thinking about what a jerk that coach is and how he improperly used his position as a HS head football coach for his own personal gain and to satisfy his own ego, disparringing players he did not know and who did not deserve his judgment. I would argue, none of our players belong in a HS with "that kind of coach".
Don't misunderstand, I hope Wimbush is able to have success at ND, this isn't a shot at him, this is commentary on his coach. The underlying reasons he flipped, at least to me, have proven to be over and over again, a complete fraud... and I could not be more proud of our guys, they are truly special people who are going to carry on the Penn State tradition and that coach, well he was dead wrong about "those kinds of kids".
Like I said, maybe a little petty but I figured I'd share since the thought crossed my mind and thought some might find it interesting.
