Dabo Swinney. He will be the HIGHEST paid HC in college football.

Why not bring in bill belichick while they’re at it? Maybe he’d take the money and just be a coordinator for Dabo?!

That would actually be the type of splashy hire that UF would want. It might be the only way to compete with Alabama and Georgia.

That's why I think it happens. To add to what you said, they NEEEEEEEED someone to compete with UCF, USF, Da U and FSU in recruiting.

Why would Sweeney do that. He is recruiting well and the acc is easier than the sec. why not stay there and have a dynasty in the acc and get to the playoff almost every year

To your point, Spurrier the other night - when clarifying his ‘next Florida coach is coaching now’ statement - mentioned Charlie Strong along with Frost and Mullen as guys who ‘could’ be targets who are still coaching. Swinney won’t leave Clemson - they barely play school there.

How long has it been since Florida has been relevant? Do you "really" think they are gonna take yet another "chance"?

They have the money; the location; and the will to make a slam dunk. All these "other" candidates are a smoke screen. What have any of those three coaches you mentioned accomplished?

What had Urban accomplished when they hired him? 10 win season at Bowling Green and Utah? Swinney would smack of desperation IMO. Florida just can’t get out of its own way. It could easily get back to relevance with the right coach.

You're nuts. How long since Florida was relevant? How about 2015 and 2016 when they played in the SEC championship games?

How about 10 years ago when they won the NC?

Florida is doing just fine. With FSU imploding they are in the catbird seat.

They've been dismal since (genuflect, please) Tebow left.

So they have been dismal (winning the East and making the SEC championship game) since the last year they won the National Championship.

OK got it.

That Sugar Bowl they played in must have been painful.

Penn State has been dismal since 1987.

So would be interesting if Urban Meyer goes back to Florida. Not gonna happen, but sure would be interesting!

Don't forget Kiffin at FAU and Butch Davis coaching FIU ... both of those guys can recruit as well. FL has a ton of talent but also has a bunch of schools with solid recruiting coaches competing for it as well as schools outside FL

I read Chip Kelly, not sure if that is national or local FL papers. Article indicated they were "vetting" Kelly.

The only place I could see William Swinney going is to Bama. Thats it.
I agree except, would you really want to be the guy after Saban?? He might have to wait 2 or 3 coaches and Bama to slip to want into that.

FLORIDA offense last 7 years:

2017: 109th
2016: 97th
2015: 97th
2014: 60th
2013: 110th
2012: 71st
2011: 84th

That’s not happening. When Dabo leaves for the ACC it will for Bama.

UF isn’t the job people think it is. Miami is actually investing in the program again and FSU has owned UF since Fisher took over.

Spurrier and Meyer are the only guys that won anything at UF. Spurrier did it when the SEC wasn’t nearly as competitive.

Look for a solid hire to get control of the program back. Swamp Donkey took a ton of kids with character issues because he wasn’t much of a recruiter.

So this brings back a recurring topic- coaching changes

Already separated from their coach

Tennessee
Oregon State
Florida

Soon after the season (?)

Nebraska
Arkansas
Texas A&M
UCLA
BYU
Texas Tech
Ole Miss
Missouri

Any other P5 programs?

Don't see it. He lives in a state where Clemson is king. He is ready for his 3rd straight playoff appearance I believe. Crazier things have happened, but that seems like a long shot. Sounds almost as bad as anyone saying UT and Franklin to be honest.

Interestingly, as accomplished as Spurrier was in Gainesville, he couldn’t beat Bowden in Tallahassee. But Ron Zook did! I think that’s nuts.
