Thread on testing & treatment research for COVID-19

Mind boggling to me that after a year of confirming what everyone thought before the pandemic - NPIs do little, if anything - there are still people blind to the data and pushing the idea.
It's like, since NPIs had become a religion, people feel insulated to the possibility of sounding foolish by still pushing the idea.
The way that tweet and the CNN article are worded borders on stupidity.
here are two examples
1. 5800 cases out of 60 to 70 million are "significant".... really?
2. "It said 396 -- 7% -- of those who got infected after they were vaccinated required hospitalization." holy smokes...it's 396 out of 10's of millions, not 5800.
Why would this number of break throughs be significant? The number actually is very low. Let's make good news seem like bad news I guess.
