Today is the day!

The dual meet is a much more fun match to watch. In that first meeting Moore came believing he was the better wrestle and attacked Bo trying to win. Bam fall.

Big10s and NCAAs Moore just agreed to lay there and accept his defeat without stirring Bo up.
I felt like both he and Nolf took it easy in their last finals matches so they could soak it in and remember it.

Bo locked up the cradle at the end, I was jumping up and down for one last pin, but he was like nah, I’m just going to run out the clock. It was disappointing, but whatever, he won the way he wanted to.

I have always thought similar thoughts. Nolf had actually come to Berger's defense over the twitter crap about coming to collect skulls, and did not seem to have that typical Nolf mean streak.
It was like he did not want to rub his nose in his silliness.

Bo was picking people up after bitch slapping them towards the end of the year. It was like Bo did want to embarrass Moore, and as long as Moore understood and mildly accepted his place in the 197 hierarchy Bo was more than willing to let him wrestle a full 7 minutes.

Shakur Rasheed was the right choice for 2018 by all data points, he also won the wrestleoffs, had a significantly higher bonus rate and was pinning wrestlers left and right with his cradle. Cassar's #1 data point truly was the fact he beat Kollin Moore in the dual (but Shak beat him in the wrestleoff earlier that week then just got hurt)

The thing we couldn't see with Cassar at the time was he really just had the clutch factor and Shak, no offense, really didn't. It's not surprising him and Bo are two peas in a pod, they're almost mentally identical. Cassar lives for the "winner takes all" scenarios similar to Bo. I firmly believe Cassar would have won it all in 2018 at 197 but I still believe he was going to heavyweight eventually since the cut to 197 was definitely tough on him.

Shak was an AA at 197. Amazing that he wrestled matches at 165 (although it was easy to see how the cut was affecting him).

Shak's ideal weight was 184 but he had a blown out knee that year unfortunately. Just bad luck. Don't think he was he ever healthy again afterwards. At 197 he was horsed around a ton a lot.

Rasheed had a weird season/postseason at 197 as a SO. Was the starter with a high bonus rate, but Cassar went against Moore in the dual. Then Rasheed faced Moore at B10s, and Moore feasted on that front leg stance.

They got paired again at NCAA semis, except Conel headlocked Moore and Rasheed lost a late lead to Macchiavello (who won the title). They faced in consis, and Moore again exploited Rasheed's stance.

As a SR he had to go back up to 197 to make room for Brooks. It was the right decision for the team, though not for Rasheed.

I was told directly that if Cassar was the post season 197 he would win nationals, but he can't win the wrestle off.
The same person was the one who told me Cassar was wrestling against OSU and would win.

The staff was convinced Cassar would win the 197 title at nationals, if he could win the spot. Which of course he couldn't.

There was nothing to warrant giving Cassar the starting spot that year. In addition to not winning the wrestle off, he was winning all his matches by decision and took bad losses to Hoffman and Holschlag while Shak was cradling and pinning everyone so the "he would fare better in a tournament" didn't work either. Shak beat a returning All American (Beazley) 7-1 also. It wouldn't have been fair to revoke the spot from Shak because Cassar won one big match (and don't get me wrong, it was HUGE) that Shak didn't get a chance to wrestle. The staff made the right decision.

I am not saying they did not make the right decision. I was simply relating how it was viewed.
In the end it was decided Shak had won the spot, and I don't think would anybody argue that.
