Damn!! What a day to show the college football world that We Are…Penn State, that we are elite! CJF, while a good coach, is not elite, thus the program will not be either.
We gotta get better.

19 non-QB rushes, spread among multiple backs, versus 46 passing attemps and 13 QB rushes.

People like to play that little game where "the coaches don't take any snaps", but this was just a shitty scheme.

Let‘s play a game. #1 Alabama, the Gold Standard of College Football, lost to an unranked team coming off two losses in a row. By your standard, Bama is not elite. Fact is, we lost to a very good team on the road because our QB got hurt.

Scheme was working dandy until Cliff went out. Do you honestly think MY was to blame? He will be snatched up after this year (if he wants) fit a plum HC position. He would be a great replacement if Franklin ever leaves.

And a huge part of coaching involves making adjustments when injuries happen. Having a guy try to throw double the number of attempts for his entire career didn't seem like the proper move, especially after seeing him completely miss targets again and again.

This staff needs to stop being enamored with long TD passes and focus on the fundamentals, like snap counts.

I don't even think it's about being elite. More like taking something sort of special that is within your grasp a little more than 50% of the time. I think Iowa has a solid, well-coached team, and it would have been a nice win and definitely provide an emotional and confidence lift to the program (including recruiting), but it will take more and even better wins to get to elite. As Alabama showed, even 'elite' teams can get beaten in this sport with 18-twentysomethings who are fed even more false and premature self-confidence-the NIL doesn't help. There have been years when the eventual national champion had a loss...maybe this is that year.

We need to be consistent in all aspects. Coaching, talent development, recruiting, practice and game execution. Not simple by any means but it is achievable. The staff knows this, I just think that some of us including myself, forget what it takes.

The only flaw in JF and MY’s plan for being elite was not having an adequate backup for SC. They did not, and it is blowing up in their faces.

They practiced it under simulated noise all week and the backup was getting it….so they did focus on it.
