Is it worth the expense, to mail out over 10k new diplomas— I guess Penn State can’t wait to kick him out the door.
No, but they probably will have a crap stain on them. Will the reissued diplomas come complete with an onion dip stain?
Correct me with facts if I am wrong here, but Penn State was consistently improving in the rankings and reputation scores in the 1990's and 2000's. For the past 10 or so years, Penn State has been on a downward spiral and things do not look like they are going to improve anytime in the near future. The downward spiral was at the same time of ever-increasing tuition costs. Penn State's neighbor to the south and Big Ten brother, University of Maryland, has been on the opposite trajectory where the school struggled in the 1990's and early 2000's, but seems to have made significant improvements over the past 10 to 15 years. As a Maryland resident, I don't think I can rationally tell high schoolers these days to choose Penn State over Maryland if it came down to an education and value decision. Don't get me wrong here, I had a great time at Penn State both academically and athletically, but today's out of state tuition cost does not support Penn State's current academic rankings and reputation.I'm not saying he's the greatest president in Penn State history...but I have never understood the "loathing" for Barron on this board. Before him it was Rod (ok, I get that one a bit more b/c of how he caved to the NCAA) I give it about a month until Bendapudi becomes the board's favorite villain...unless of course she puts the Joe statue on the Old Main lawn.
I think she's great. Never thought I'd say that about a university prez. I heard her when they hired the new AD and she seems bright, very positive, personable, and acts like she knows what's going on. I didn't hear a lot of the standard talking points and hollow admin-speak. They may have tripped over themselves and made a good hire with her.I give it about a month until Bendapudi becomes the board's favorite villain...unless of course she puts the Joe statue on the Old Main lawn.

Pennsylvania’s ruby red legislature abandoned higher education 20 years ago and it directly and predictably resulted in the decline in rankings as rankings now reflect affordability. Our ass-backwards legislature is trying to defund higher education while our peers are doubling down on their investments.
This is the hallmark of our Republican legislature - blame public institutions for every problem then legislate those problems into reality.
What error are you talking about? No one loathes Barron more than me, but in this instance I agree with him. Ignoring error's is rarely the right thing to do and since most worked very hard for that diploma it shouldn't contain any errors.

So why do you ask such an obvious question? What error are you talking about?
Ahh, the irony. I followed your instructions.Ignoring error's is rarely the right thing to do ...
John Oswald was president and Joe Paterno was head football coach. Didn't have to look it up.Who doesn’t look at their diploma, years later, and focus on the President's signature?
