Polk ended up with 7 catches for 59 yards and a TD. That puts him at 68 catches for 1121 yards (according to the JMU site - although the 1042 they had before the game and 59 add up to 1101) and 11 TDs on the season (14 games). JMU won 17-0 and heads to the semi-finals. It's fun to win no matter the level. Polk chose wisely. JMU is a well-supported FBS program. Good for Brandon Polk.

Yes, Polk seems to be one of the transfers that had it work out for him. Hard to say what he would have done at PSU this year, but no where near those numbers. Monroe at Temple got significant PT at S. Not sure how much he would have played at PSU, assuming he was 3rd team behind Brisker and Sutherland. Jarvis was starting at LB for Umass at the beginning of the year. Not sure he sees much PT at PSU at LB, again assuming he was 3rd team.

I think two things are pretty clear:
1) The only position where the portal hurt us was at WR.
2) Rahne had no idea how to utilize WRs in his offense.

Why? Because he had a good year at JMU? Congratulations and whoop de doo. I wonder if you were one of the guys bitching about Polk’s drops last year. Good to see him play well at this level, but twisted logic to use that as a referendum on how Rahne used his wide receivers. In any event, you don’t have Rahne to kick around any more. On to the next OC I presume.

Polk was dropping balls long before Rahne called the plays. He was dropping em under Gattis, and under Corley.

The fact that he went from a league where he barely cracks the top 75 WRs to one where he was instantly top 5 means a lot. If he gets drafted, makes a roster, and starts producing in the NFL, sure. Until then, it is what it is.
