The standing ovations followed him around the course this afternoon.....well deserved. Nice the coverage stayed with him on 18 for 10-12 minutes instead of going back and forth to the other players.

Gentle Ben!

I might be in the minority, but Crenshaw should have retired from the Masters years ago. He can't even break 80 on the Champions Tour. What's so emotional about a guy shooting 32 over par? He's not an all-time great, I don't get all the media slobbering over this.

I am in your corner ...

I saw him hit a ball halfway across the water in the par 3 contest on Wednesday and couldn't believe a pro golfer would hit such a poor shot. It literally looked like a shot that a 20 handicapper would hit. I said to myself that he wouldn't break 85 if he played like that during the tournament. Sure enough, he went out and shot 91/85 which was 13 strokes worse than the next (worst) competitor.

Did you notice the tv shots of him never showed his score? They were being kind as I had to go on line to see what score he was shooting and when I looked he was 29 over through 28 holes.

I understand the nostalgia and history and tradition and all that, but at some point, he should have had the pride to decline to play as I am sure he knew he would play in the manner that he did. In a way, it was an insult to the tournament to have him go out and play like he did. He could have played in the practice rounds on Monday/Tuesday and the par 3 on Wed and called it quits then.

On the other hand, he did score an ace in the wife and daughters category.

He looked horrible in the interview after the round in high def TV. Being outside in the sun so much really puts a beating on his face.

He's either invited to play or he isn't...

...if they (or others) don't like him shooting 85 w/ other competitors, then they should send him out early w/ a marker. They'd have to drag me away from the tournament if I were him, and it meant as much to me as it obviously does to him.

flags, flags, and more flags ...

Could be a 15 yard personal foul, or perhaps a 30 yard double personal foul, as you mentioned two individuals.

The flags will remain on the field unless you correct your mistake, or somebody picks them up for you.

Here is a start towards booth review of the penalties ...

Technically, there should be 4 flags as there is one wife and 3 daughters. All of them are captured in the photos in the attached link, although I admit the photos aren't the greatest representation of the quality that was on display. Clearly, the other tweets confirm my initial evaluation!

Crenshaw and family

Jeez... With that attitude I guess you guys think Arnold Palmer shouldn't be allowed to be the honorary starter as his tee shot was horrible.

The Masters is all tradition. That's why they all come back whether they compete or not or can't even swing a club anymore.

The Big Three leading off the Masters on Thursday was simply awesome. It's no small part in making that tournament what it is.
