They've changed the tactics, for defeating ISIS, implemented by the previous administration and it's having a lot of success. Instead of bombing them and making them move to another location, Trump's strategy is to surround their strongholds and then carry out an annihilation campaign.
Not only has this trapped the terrorists into an area it's also cut off the flow of new fighters. During it's peak (Obama's administration) ISIS was gaining 1,500 new fighters a month, now that number is below 100.
