U20 Pan-Am's - July 11-13

His opponent got up off the mat after the final 4 pointer with a big grin (which he carried all the way through the hand shakes), like, “I can’t believe how good PJ is and how badly he worked me over.”
That last 4 was so pretty. So much strength as well and he made it look easy

70 kg – PJ Duke (KD) VS J. Carlos Torre Torres (COL)

P1:
PJ pushing forward, Torres circles back in
PJ drops to a leg, working & comes around for the TD, 2-0, restart
Torres shoots, PJ counters, gets a leg & takes Torres to his back, 6-0, restart
PJ pushing forward, working a 2 on 1, trips Torres for another TD, 8-0 & a turn 10-0
Another quick Tech for PJ!

PJ Duke TECH J. Carlos Torre Torres 10-0 (1:20)

We have 4 matches in a row coming up on mat A. Lilledahl, Bassett, Ryder, and then Mirasola

I think the likelihood of Bassett and Blaze (I know he’s not at pan-ams) coming to PSU goes up quite a bit after these U20 camps and tournaments. They are just surrounded by PSU commits and coaches and they get to watch them dominate every time out. This U20 team is about the best recruiting tool I could ever think of!

Bassett vs PUR up now

Bassett in a little scramble but comes out for 2
Takes a hi-c and immediately goes dump for 4. 6-0. PUR gets double unders and drives Bassett out for 1

Bassett with a td to go up 8-1. Another Td on the edge pushes it to 10-1. Snap down go behind for the last td. 12-1 tech in 2:56

His pace is a real weapon but he can get a bit sloppy at times because of it. Was definitely sloppy at points in this match but he is just so much better it didn’t matter. He needs to find the sweet spot between pushing pace but not making silly mistakes. Similar to what Mesenbrink has learned

Ryder with the first td and then drives him out for another point. 3-0

Ryder defends, reshot and finishes his double for 4! 7-0. Takes him to the edge and finishes another shot for 4. PER challenging but it looked like 4 to me. Challenge won. 2 instead of 4 but then Ryder immediately takes him down and it is still an 11-0 tech

Mirasola vs a Canadian with a Russian last name

Mirasola with a stepout to go up 1-0. Nice low double for a td and it’s 3-0

Far ankle scramble which is a position PSU ALWAYS wins which Mirasola does to go up 5-0

2 more tds while I was typing and a 3rd to end the match 11-0. Another first period tech

Sahakian is up soon but that looks like the last of the USA guys on mat A this session

Still a few more on Mat B it looks like

Next round at 5:00 central?

I can't believe he gave up a point.
No more social media for him, only practicing.
