U20 Pan-Am's - July 11-13

I was hoping we would get to see Nick Lee's cornering skill more there. These guys aren't making it to the break...
Think the plan is Bo going to Fargo right after PanAms to meet up with Mom to watch his brothers compete there. Then afterward he will be spending time in State College getting ready for Worlds. I'll bet he gets an eye full of Nick Lee while there.. lol

57 kg Gold Medal Match – Luke Lilledahl (NLWC/TMWC) VS Ethan Manuel Rivera (PUR)

P1:
Tying up & they break, Luke working a 2 on 1, nothing
Luke reaches for an ankle, nothing, Rivera reaches for a leg, nothing
Passivity warning Rivera
Luke shoots, nothing
Luke in on a leg & gets the TD, 2-0, restart
Tying up in the center & jockeying for position
Luke with a sweet ankle trip for another TD, 4-0
And the screen goes blank. Technical Issues & there's nothing else to see. The video returns during a different match, so I'm not sure who won.

Luke Lilledahl TECH Ethan Manuel Rivera 10-0 (1:43)

Thanks to @amattaro for the update!

Looks like Ryder won the fastest match in the finals with a time of 1:01. Looks like most ended it in the first period

Actually I just went and looked and Dekraker got the award for quickest match. :46 tech in the finals

For the whole tournament Sinclair had a :28 win and Duke a :38 win

I'll be honest, I don't usually recognize the names of our opponents here but Zack wrestled LJ Araujo who is #13 big boarder in 2024 and completely shut him down.

Araujo is really good. Has wins over Ethan Birden and Latrell Schaffer. Super 32 champ. 4 time North Dakota state champion. I think the match with Ryder was tighter than the final score but at the same time Araujo never really came close to scoring. Ryder is so flipping hard to score on

USA Wrestling says Bassett won by tech fall in the finals, but Flo says he won by pin. Does anyone know what it was called on the mat?

WOW. Great Performance. If Lilledahl, Bassett and Duke win Gold at worlds.....nobody will be surprised. If the group of Lockett, Ryder, Sinclair and Mirasola win 2-3 Gold.....nobody will be surprised. Dekraker, McDanel and Sahakian have earned their spot and if any bring home medals.....I certainly won't be surprised. This is an amazing group of U20s. Things get better every year for USA wrestling. Love it.

Dekraker, Sinclair, McDanel, and Sahakian are not on the U20 world team. They just filled in at the pan-ams. For worlds we have Blaze at 61, Barr at 86, Rademacher at 97, and Kueter at heavy. I think this is the best U20 team the US has ever had. Medal threats top to bottom
