And USC still has a garbage defense. Lincoln Riley might be the best offensive mind in the country but is clueless when it comes to defense and making the right hires
You can't be that explosive on offense AND have a good defense. UGA last year was perhaps the anomaly, but great defense requires some ball control on offense or your guys tire.
I'm a bit surprised that 5-0 Maryland didn't crack the top 25.

6. Penn State (+1)
Things didn’t look good for Penn State at first against Northwestern. Yes it was a 41-13 win, but it was tied 10-10 at halftime, putting Nittany Lions fans on edge.
Northwestern has been competitive this season, despite a tumultuous summer involving the firing of Pat Fitzgerald. But eventually, Drew Allar and the Penn State offense pulled away. It wasn’t the prettiest, but the team took care of business.
There wasn't an error. ESPN had it as 6 and moving up a spot when I posted this thread and when the AP post was released. You just misread it.
