he was reported to be 1-10 against him all time and lost the last 2 matches, the latter convincingly. zahid took WC Dake to the brink only a few months ago. So I think it was an upset, real or on paper. but i get what your laying down.

I dont think RBY was an upset because I understand that RBY wrestled with Milloff in the past and it was never all that close.

Berge match while an upset, if it was 1 vs 2 and not 11 vs 12 might qualify. If folks wanted to list those that would be interesting just see how many times our guys beat higher ranked or seeded guys.....but i think that list might be longer than we suspect even in the short window of the cael era.

Yeah. Not counting the pony league records when they were 7 and 8 yrs old lol. Officially in college Mark is 2-1.

That being said. I understand the premise of your thread. And like you said, if going by rankings there will be a lot more added to your list

I like where I think you were trying to go with this. If you ask “which upset had the biggest shock value when the PSU wrestler won” then to me it’s clearly Cenzo over IMar 1 at Nationals as 1) I remember scaring the crap out of my dogs when I reacted to the pin and 2) quite literally I mistakenly thought Cenzo was a speed bump on IMar’s way to 4 national titles, when in reality IMar was the speed bump on Cenzo’s probable path to 4 titles.

Same here! I went nuts when he pinned him in finals freshman year. That had to be one of if not biggest upsets of all time

I don’t disagree with your point, but it is insane that you are pretending that the all star match didn’t happen. Reasonable people can disagree about whether it should count for seeding purposes, and obviously an “exhibition” can’t be counted on their NCAA records, but there is no argument about whether the match happened. I was there and watched it. There was a clock and a referee. They followed college rules and both tried to win. Last night’s match makes them 2-2 against each other in college.

I will never forget Cenzo v iMar I, or Ironhead’s call of it - the combo is as epic a Penn St sports moment as there is. Also, Bo’s reversal and pin of MyMar. I was in a luxury box at the Q in CLE at the 50 yd line and I flipped my shiite!

Feet didn’t touch the ground for 2 days. I may be too emotionally invested in Penn St Wrestling.

Not pretending it didn’t happen. It wasn’t an official match. Just like freestyle results aren’t official matches.

Call me crazy if you want but I’m not gonna count a win for an exhibition match. People try new things, not in top shape, practice IMO

Agree that you should look at college and not HS matches. They are 2-2 in college. Too much being made of their HS matches. Question if this is an upset, but it was a great match.
