Urban Meyer will...

I'm rarely wrong and I never said it won't hurt their image. I just don't believe they care about that. It won't hurt recruiting if that's what you're trying to imply.

Well now, we already know tOSU does not recruit all angels but I wouldn't be so 'cock sure' it doesn't impact recruiting. Believe it or not some people have morals, and this event will turn them off. At any rate, we anxiously await the explanation for keeping a known wife beater on staff for three years. This is going to be good!

I think the original poster is wrong ---- I think Meyer gets fired.

But I respect the original poster going out on a limb and unequivocally stating his prediction.

If you don't think this will hurt their recruiting with "quality" student athletes then this is one of those RARE times- you're wrong!

He might lose a kid or two that you’ll never know the reason for but There willl be another highly touted recruit waiting to take that slot. It’s not going to cost them recruits en masse.

Won't hurt recruiting?? Seriously??

Time will tell...in a toss-up decision, this could prove to be the deciding factor

Nobody is saying they'll lose recruits "en masse." After all, there are plenty of immoral people out there looking to punch a quick ticket to the NFL, and tOSU attracts them like moths to a flame. That said, Urbs is damaged goods regardless of the verdict. It will factor into the decision of some blue chip recruits. Your recruiting success rate on top targets will fall. You can bank on it.

I'm not sure how anyone could honestly believe anything he says at this point. We like you at this position. You'll get time as a freshmen. We'll make sure your boy graduates. It's obvious Urban Meyer is not a trustworthy person if he was willing to protect a guy for a decade at 2 different universities who has had 9 domestic incidents with his wife involving physical abuse and then blatantly lie about a half dozen times at a press conference.

And EVERY momma is going to learn about Meyer's cover for a spouse abuser. Think that may sway pretty much every recruit who has any sense of decency or at least doesn't want to publically be associated with an entire coaching staff that protected a wife beater.

I don't believe recruiting will be hurt based on some having a moral high ground. Why? I don't believe Urb recruits these types of kids to begin with. Remember We ain't here to play school?

return as the head coach at The Ohio State University football team on or before September 29. 2018.
Your head coach may return but you're still missing a moral compass........which means nothing has changed there since Cooper was coach.

This was according to Chris Carter on whatever afternoon talk show he appears on for FS1. He said he's very close with a lot of players and families and said Meyer had been reaching out to some of them. FWIW.
T o get their lies and alibi's straight?

Hmmm. 78% of tOSU football players would disagree...

"The Ohio State football program has a GSR of 78 percent, equal to the 78 percent posted a year ago and the 74 percent from two years ago. It is well above the 67 and 63 percent marks from three and four years prior, respectively. It is also above the 71 percent for FBS programs nationally.

Bruno said the numbers show the importance Ohio State student-athletes and staff place on academics.

“Collectively, these data are a testimony to the academic commitment of our student-athletes and their coaching staffs, as well as the dedication of our academic support services,” he said."

Good point, I give credit to these graduates if they truly did the work. A question for you cosmos. Does graduating correlate with one who has high morals? Is it possible for one to graduate and be morally bankrupt?

The OSU players had as much to do with the decision making to keep ZS around as the PSU players had to do with Sandusky. Keep the focus where it belongs.

We win 9/29 even if you have Woody on the sidelines with TSmith, EddieG, and Galloway lined up.

I hope, for so many reasons, Meyer is on the sidelines that night. The memes alone will be worth the price of admission....

The victory against another overrated Buckeye squad will just be gravy....

I agree that Urban has some serious stink on him that will either take a long long time to recover or more likely never fully recover .

He will still recruit pretty good but opposing coaches are going to crucify him and always remind the recruit that Urby is just 1 incident from being removed which adds risk to an elite recruits decision. They should do fine locally and with lower end 4 star kids but those elite players outside their normal area and even local top 50-100 kids are going to have to really like OSU to select them over the top programs in the country.

The story doesn’t seem to be going away and I’m pretty sure the current OSU admin debate about keeping UM will involve his ability to perform at their current level

Out of curiosity...who was on that show?
I can't believe they brought in an ""independent group" to do anything but pave the way for his return as this will slip out of the minds of the media and public
You mean like our BOTs did with Freeh?

You should hope you're wrong, because if you're not, that means a lot of stupid parents are sending their kids to a less than trustworthy coach.

I agree he'll likely return prior to our game. And if the OSU investigation reveals the Meyer reported the incident to his bosses like the policies suggest, I have absolutely no problem with Meyer continuing to coach as normal.

OSU 69 what is the purpose of your post? I certainly hope that the two numbers in your call sign don't indicate your year of graduation from Ohio State. Why? Because your kids and grand children would probably be embarrassed by your juvenile behavior.

Have heard he's reached out to player families and has been pretty positive with what he believe the outcome will be. Is anyone surprised?
I'd be surprised if that happens while he's, ahem, suspended. Not sure he's permitted to have contact with anyone during this time.
That said....
I'll bet he has a hand in the practice planning as well.

Many moons ago, when I entered the job market fresh out of college I was told by many a prospective employer: "Here your degree doesn't mean much other than you have a work ethic. Here you are starting over." Insomuch as ethics and morals are concerned the intersection between the two, graduates and the morally bankrupt, is small. Point being, Urban needn't worry about the 22%. They're going to tOSU regardless of why they kept Zach Smith on staff. It's the other 78% you should worry about. Mommas aint going to like their sons being mentored by enablers.

Not that I care what goes on in ohio, but I did some checking and saw purple is the ribbon color of choice for DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Wear those ribbons proudly.

It would also be nice to see the team forgo the normal black on black on black w/ black and red trim, really cool (to tacky Tosu fans anyway), graphite helmet alternative uniforms for something that expresses a little more remorse, frankly. Tosu should wear these whenever they play a school from a state where their coaches have beaten women.

Maybe the osu game should be a purple out

Why not, .......:)

If this seems impossible to believe allow me to quote the story floating around from one of Floyd's coaches:

"Sharrif was really confused and put a call into Coach Meyer. When they spoke Coach Meyer told him that he had a ‘dream' the night before, and that Coach Meyer saw himself on the sideline coaching Sharrif. Told him that is was a 'message from God that I should come back and coach, as I guess if it's my time to die, I'd rather die on the sidelines coaching you than anywhere else in the world.'"

"Sharrif talked to us the next day and said Ohio State is great and all, but Coach Meyer said he would DIE for me. That's pretty intense. From that day on Sharrif mainly kept to himself. But that was the turning point in my eyes."

Anniuncing the 14 day target for the investigation looks like a trial balloon to see what reaction there is. If OSU doesn’t get a lot of criticism or pushback, They’ll roll out an obligatory few game suspension and/or fine for Urban lying at BigTen media days and nothing more. If the criticism is withering or donors/sponsors start balking then they can buy some more time to continue the investigation and step things down gradually.
