US Open

what do you guys think of the haines-facundo match? I think i'd take haines. don't trust facundo's ability to score and haines will keep coming until he finds his way to a finish.
I guess I expect (and maybe even hope) that the guy in our room for the past year wins. But if he doesn’t, I’m even more psyched for what we have at 157 next year. Win-Win.

I'm going to have record-low greco state tournament attendance this weekend. I'm back to the drawing board with my guys. It's like, the "rebel against the coach" type of thing to do in my club, to skip greco.

No one, including College coaches cares about Greco. Unless you train it more than a week like most clubs do then not sure the point in wrestling that style.

Hah! Time for a little horn tooting. I was still going on the mat live with the HS kids when I was 62 and holding my own. I have to admit that I have slowed down a bit since then.

Any chance you are a scion of a very wealthy family who owns a large chemical business AND you just happen to be a very generous donor to the high school program where you’d roll with the team?

At 52, I think I could still hold my own. The key, however, would be making sure that I picked kids about 50 pounds lighter than me.

It's always a good idea until after we are hurt. 😆

Wow, will Davis ever grow? My son used to wrestle him at 45, 55, 65lbs
He looks like he's got a bit broader across the shoulders in the past few months, but still has a higher pitched voice than most 13 year olds.

I think he's got some growth in his near future.

Howard on Mat 20.

Loses 12-2. Got trap-arm gutted four times. Wow. Not what I was expecting.

Got up 2-0 and then just kind of stopped pushing the pace. Got taken down, taken down again and gutted.

What is really at stake today? Legitimate question, Junior Trials are in June right?

Top 8 move to trials in Ohio. Winner sits out to face challenge match winner. Others can enter ohio if past world team member or past Fargo placer. Could be many more than 8

Alec Pantaleo was down 10-10 at break against Luca Wick (Evan's younger brother) but took control in the second, winning 18-10.

Haines up on Mat 29, up 9-4, Haines' points coming off a feet-to-back double and some laces. The scoring is a mess and McKnight is trying to figure it out. Long delays while the ref appears to be defending it.

Haines goes up 13-4 with what should've been a four plus a gut, but was only given 2+2.

Fish (is there a worse wrestling name?) with exposure to make it 13-6, but then tries to go big and gets flattened and pinned. 15-6 at the time.

Looks like Levi is still getting a fell for FS, that four he gave up seemed like he made it happen for his opponent.

He pinned his dude after tho.

When I was youth coaching, the kids who had moved on often came to my practices anyway. One who I had coached for many years who had grown to about 6'2" and weighed maybe 190 (and placed in National Preps) came up to me and said, "Come on, coach, let's roll around."
The next morning I opened one eye and said to my wife, "Call the doctor. I think I've died." I had a brace on my neck for a week. From that point on I just told my ex-wrestlers to leave me the heck alone
