Huge balls on Robbie! Locking up double overs and going inside trip for 4 not once but twice to win was insane. Hoping his shoulder is ok. At first it looked like his elbow but was holding his shoulder after the match

Yeah took some guts to do it. I just hope he's okay. What a rough go it's been with injuries. We'll find out if he goes out their for 3rd.

Important question- which shoulder? His previously injured one?

Curious, what does 3rd place vs 4th do for Robby? Does it qualify him for WTT that 4th doesn't?

I had a rotator injury and if I turn it just the exact right position.....a nerve rolls over something and it feels like you hit your funny bone hard. It hurts like hell from the top of the shoulder to just below the elbow. The pain goes away like a funny bone but there is lingering numbness. Robbie didn't seem to be stressing that shoulder much when the pain hit. It looked like a Stinger-type. It hurts from shoulder to elbow. Lets hope it was something similar. That young man deserves some good health news

What about bull?
Marinelli committed to coaching at HWC ... hasn't said he's competing yet. (said maybe competing in his Instagram post) My guess is he will compete one day though.

Kemerer was noncommittal in his interview after NCAAs if he's still wrestling. My guess is he's done but he might get an itching to go when he heals up. He's seemingly wanted to move onto life for a while but stuck around for the team.

DeSanto hinted at moving on to a regular life after NCAAs but I don't think he's declared his intentions one way or another. My guess is he signs and gives freestyle a go, can't see him giving up competing this early.

Eierman I think teased he will sign but probably is waiting for his knee to heal up.

I agree. It seemed more like a stinger than a big injury. I guess we will see but I have a feeling he’s ok. And I think it was his right arm/shoulder. Not sure if that’s the one he hurt previously

Good to hear eyewitness account. I remember the freaking out about Kerk, but I knew it was minor when I saw it live.
Hope you are right

I know the competition wasn’t super elite but does the performance of both Nolf and Facundo have people feeling better moving forward? It has taken Nolf a little bit to adapt to freestyle but I feel like he is a top 5 guy in the world right now. Does anyone feel like he can beat Dake? It obviously hasn’t went Nolfs way yet but I really feel like he has jumped another level. Not sure if he wins the spot over Dake but I think he at least takes a match from him. I can’t wait to see it here in a few weeks. Nolf has been my favorite wrestler for awhile now and I love seeing him dominate like he did in college.
How are you all feeling about Facundo after the clinic he has put on? Not the highest level of competition but you can’t penalize him for that. He has hammered everyone they have put in front of him. He has been extremely offensive and has finished at a very high rate. His defense is world class but he hasn’t relied on it like he has at times in the past. Would have liked to have seen him and Levi but I think at this stage especially in freestyle Facundo is a bit ahead. I’ve always been higher on Facundo than a lot of you but this makes me feel even better. It seemed like most wanted to see him getting to his offense and finishing which he did at a very high percentage. I know he is a better freestyler than folk but seeing him dominate should encourage everyone. I really hope he makes the team. Most of the US kids who go to Junior worlds and do well end up having a really great folkstyle season right afterwards. Seems like a great springboard into the season.

I don't think Dake throws Nolf like he does next time around and anything can happen in free but I haven't seen anything that indicates Nolf can take him down.

As for Facundo ... like I said, I don't think we can learn much from his this weekend. He should virtually 10-0 this field in free and we know he can dominate Division 1 backups. The question is if he can generate offense and setups against NQ level guys and then eventually AA level guys. I imagine he'll be focused on big time by Casey this summer and Carter will be working out with him regularly so I am very optimistic.

I think Nolf got noticeably stronger and he's finally starting to wrestle like it. He's starting to become 'heavy' to opponents, whereas earlier in his career he'd have problems staving off attacks from guys who were stronger and older, like James Green and JB. From par terre he'd rarely turn guys, even guys a few tiers below him, but that's no longer the case.

Part of it, too, I think, is slowly unlearning what worked for him in folk, where he'd often put himself in positions that are points the other way in FS. He's more economic in his movement now, but still creative. He's going to be a gold medalist some day, I believe, it's just a matter of when.

Whether he can beat Dake right now, I don't know if he's there yet, because with the exception of a single hiccup at the Olympics, Dake would be in the discussion for top P4P next to Sadulaev. I don't think he gives up points to Dake as easily as he did last go-round, at least.

I agree about Facundo but the field I think will end up being better than we think at first glance. Hepner started for tOSU and didn’t have a great season but beat some decent kids and was in close matches with some good kids (3-1 vs Lewan, 4-2 vs Saldate) and Alex teched him 11-0. I would think Stoney Buell will start for Purdue next year, Michael Caliendo for NDSU, Thomsen for SDSU, Vinny Zerban for Northern Colorado, Derek Fields for NC State, Norfleet for ASU and I’m sure I’m missing many more. Most of these kids are freshman or redshirt freshman and many will step into a starting role this coming season. Alex laying waste to the field is promising in my eyes. I’m interested to see who shows up for the WTT to challenge him for the 74kg spot. I’m sure there are some top kids who will try to make the junior world team but I can’t think of who?

I mean like I said, the guys in this field are all guys Alex should 10-0 in free. That being said, since it's free, anything can happen so him actually 10-0ing them all is a good sign. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to downplay Alex's potential but I don't think this is a good weekend to make projections for his upcoming season next year. Now him winning a world gold? Yes that would be something, Mekhi and Keegan followed that up with a national championship.

As @AndEEss said, there was a lot going on last summer that prevented Alex from getting a lot of the individualized attention he needed to make a jump then we got struck with the norovirus in the Fall.

Are the finals best of 3? Or, is it because both are qualified that it is a seeding match more than anything?
